'That's called theft': TikToker shares 'hack' to avoid paying bill at hotel bar, internet divided
From the start, TikTok has been open about compensating content creators, although it's worth noting that earning substantial incomes requires time, effort and really good content. Nevertheless, a TikToker recently posted a video on the platform in which she showed how to skip paying the bill at a hotel bar, which runs counter to the company's policies.
The aspiration for a "rich" lifestyle has inspired many people to become TikTok content creators. Consequently, some users post outrageous content, and some even confess to engaging in fraudulent activities.

'One thing about me': Viral TikTok trend has netizens revealing their juiciest stories
What was the viral clip about?
The user, Morgan, posted a TikTok video, in which the text on the screen read, "Providing a false room number to the hotel bar I am presently at to escape payment." The video has been taken down since.
In the video, Morgan says, "If you don't know the name of the person whose room you're using, you may find yourself in trouble. And even if you manage to pull off this 'trick' someone else will be left with the bill, and they'll have to deal with the hotel to dispute it."
How did other TikTok users react to the viral clip?
Numerous commenters flocked to Morgan's TikTok account to express their thoughts on the video. Several individuals, claiming to be hotel employees, stated that they come across such attempts frequently, with others noting that the food service personnel often suffer since the charges are typically dismissed, resulting in the loss of any gratuity they earned from those orders.
A TikTok user commented, "That's called theft," while another said, "Tell me you're a POS without telling me you're a POS." Another user lashed out, "Imagine being such a horrible person, but then also sharing that with the whole world." While another commented, "That called fraud and stealing sweetheart. Your parents must be so proud."
Nowadays, hotels and bars aren't easily fooled by this trick suggested by Morgan and are aware of how people attempt to manipulate the system. That's why several venues that provide a "charge to the room" option might ask for your name in passing to verify if it matches the room number.
Morgan claimed that her video was meant as a "joke" and that her only objective for posting content was to earn money. The caption accompanying the video stated, "And that's on needing a sugar daddy." Another person commented, "Don’t care if it’s a joke, if you can’t afford to go out to eat, Don’t Go Out."
Logan Fairchild, another commenter, stated that they'll own up and apologize when they're wrong, but jokes like that weren't fun for servers who lose out, as someone who works in the industry and has witnessed this firsthand, and for the individual who was now stuck with an unpaid bill.
Morgan responds to backlash
Morgan soon released a response to the backlash, stating, "I’m only going to respond to the hate comments on this TikTok one last time. A lot of y’all do not understand me at all because you don’t f***in’ know me. Social media is a joke. If you don’t read my bio that literally says my TikTok are for clout. I’m just trying to make money, honey."
One user, who claimed to be a hotel employee, said that they were looking into the matter, even if it was a joke. This was not Morgan's first time going viral. She had previously posted a TikTok video in which she complained about her roommate's untidiness. The video received nearly a million views.
