TikToker Sania Khan's heartbroken mom Shazia sues building she was murdered in for her 'wrongful death'
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Sania Khan, a 29-year-old Pakistani-American TikTok star lost her life in a murder-suicide carried out by her 36-year-old ex-husband Raheel Ahmed in July. Her mother Shazia has now sued the building for the TikToker's wrongful death.
Attorney Mike Gallagher, the lawyer working with the plaintiff, said, "Sania Khan’s story is a tragic one that should have been prevented. The defendants had known for more than [seven] months that Sania’s estranged husband posed a significant threat to her life." Acording to Fox News, he continued, "And despite this knowledge, the defendants allowed him to walk right past security before escorting him into the secured portion of the building, without even asking to see his identification.”

Gallagher also claimed that even if the building followed its own policy, they would have known that Khan's estranged husband was on the "no-entry- list of the building." Additionally, Ahmed would have also been stopped from entering the building without showing his ID or giving prior information to Khan. The incident was reported back on July 18 when the CPD found Khan and Ahmed dead with gunshot wounds on their foreheads.
On Shazia, Gallagher stated, "She's very upset that Sania did everything she possibly could do in order to protect herself, including removing [Ahmad] from the lease." She had informed the building about the possible threat her estranged husband posed to her.
The Police Department of Alpharetta, Georgia had asked Chicago Police Department to run a wellness check on Ahmed, who was also a medical student after his family had reported him missing from the Atlanta area. One of the officers had also alerted CPD that the two were "going through a divorce" and Ahmad went to Chicago to "salvage the marriage."
After the video from the security cameras was obtained as per Shazia's request, it was found that Ahmed had entered past the security without showing his ID and met a realtor. After going through a couple of properties, they both parted ways as Ahmed said he was going to meet a friend who lived in the same apartment. He then went up to the 28th floor of the building where Khan's apartment was and shot her in the head. Right after the same, he shot himself.
