DECATUR, GEORGIA: A doorbell camera captured the horrifying moments a man in a jeep tried to run over an off-duty law enforcement officer on his front lawn. This incident occurred at around 5.17 pm on Tuesday, August 16, when officer Jack Brown observed a man waiting near his house in a black Jeep Wrangler. When Brown went up to the driver and asked him if he required any help, the man reportedly started swearing at the officer.
Video evidence captured by the doorbell camera revealed the car barely missing Brown and eventually hitting a tree. The driver of the car was identified as Gregory Martin Hill. In addition to the alleged assault on the officer's front lawn, 54-year-old Hill has also been charged with attempted murder.

According to the footage, Brown fell down after being almost hit by the Jeep, but he managed to get up and run towards his house. Hill got out of the car and hurried up the driveway towards the home before turning around and running back to his car. Brown then emerged from his house entrance carrying a pistol.
The testimony claims that Brown told Hill to kneel down but he refused. Hill then reversed the Jeep onto the street, ignoring the weapon being aimed at him as the vehicle got out of sight of the camera. The off-duty cop was standing right in his front yard when the Jeep suddenly accelerated towards him.
The video further showed Brown shooting at the Jeep several times while being struck by the front end of the car. Hill reversed the car again and ran over the policeman's legs after he had knocked Brown to the floor. Hill remained unharmed despite the officer shooting at the approaching vehicle. Hill exited the vehicle to engage with Brown, but the officer and a bystander managed to restrain him. Other cops showed up at the scene of the incident to detain Hill.
Later that evening, Brown was discharged from Huntsville Hospital. "He is walking and doing well. He and his family would like to thank everyone for their messages and prayers," the Decatur Police Department said in a statement. The initial accusation against Hill was of second-degree assault, but the charge has been raised to attempted murder. Charles Elliott, the district court judge for Morgan County, set Hill's bail at $1 million. According to Alabama.com, a representative for the Decatur Police Department, Irene Cardenas-Martinez, stated that there is no obvious relationship connecting Brown and the accused.
