Who is Gary Volesky? Army general suspended for mocking Jill Biden with 'you finally know what a woman is'
Retired lieutenant general Gary Volesky was suspended for his response to the tweet posted by the FLOTUS, Jill Biden, in support of women's abortion rights in the country. Condemning the Supreme Court's verdict that overturned the much-celebrated Roe v Wade on June 24, the First Lady on Twitter said that after 50 years of women being able to exercise their bodily autonomy, women's rights had been "stolen." In response, the former Army spokesperson ridiculed, "Glad to see you finally know what a woman is."
Gary Volesky, who retired in 2020 as a lieutenant general, also previously served as the Army's public affairs chief during his career that spanned 36 years. His lucrative position as a mentor, which paid him $92 per hour to advise military leaders, troops, and students who were taking part in war simulations and other similar activities, has now been terminated by the commander of the military branch’s combined arms center, Lt Gen Theodore Martin.

For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies.
— Jill Biden (@FLOTUS) June 24, 2022
Today, that right was stolen from us.
And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away.
The Guardian reports that the controversial tweet no longer appears on the 60-year-old's account. However, the potshot at the White House's support for women's federal abortion rights was heavily scrutinized by netizens. A user wrote, "Lt Gen Gary Volesky (Ret) replied to a Jill Biden tweet as if he were a nose-picking, petty-minded, mentally ill-formed, prurient little s--t. Which I guess makes him a ... He also deleted it w/o an apology. Which makes him a coward." Another said, "Good, stupidity should come at a price!"

The retired officer, Gary Volesky, responded to a tweet Jill Biden sent about abortion. "Glad to see you finally know what a woman is," he wrote.
Meanwhile, many backed him up. One of them said, "Just how woke is the @USArmy? It suspended LTG @gary_volesky for asking @FLOTUS @DrBiden a legitimate question. In other words, her and the rest of @TheDemocrats only know what a #woman is when it’s convenient for them. Otherwise, it’s a #BirthingParent or some other nonsense."

An army spokesperson stated that the commander of the military branch’s combined arms center, Lieutenant General Theodore Martin, suspended Volesky. According to USA Today, he is now the subject of an inquiry to see whether the reportedly inflammatory tweet violated the decorum guidelines for retired military personnel.
Further investigation into Volesky's account revealed that he had previously targeted other women in politics through his tweets. One such event occurred when Wyoming Republican Representative Liz Cheney declared that she would serve on the congressional committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack and that the panel's work would be above partisan politics. Volesky said, "This is all about party politics."
