In the previous episode of ‘This Is Us’ Season 6, we finally saw the backstory of Miguel and got to know about all the hardships he went through in his life. He had to give up a lot of things to have a good life and have Rebecca on her side. He was there for her till the last moment and now that he’s gone, the Big Three have a lot to think about. If you remember the Thanksgiving episode, Rebecca (Mandy Moore) decided in the family meeting that if Miguel (Jon Huertas) is not around then Kate would be taking care of her and everyone was good with that idea.

However, after Miguel’s death, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) asks for a family meeting about what should be done now. Randall and Kate (Chrissy Metz) believe that the house Kevin (Justin Hartley) has made is amazing, but he believes that someone is needed for her permanently. Side by side, we get flashbacks about the Pearson family and how the big three were so close to each other and Rebecca.

In the present scenario, the Big Three are still having the conversation about who should be taking care of their mother. During the process, Rebecca comes and she has put makeup on. She’s going for a walk with the nurse and at that time, Kate says that she’ll go for a walk with her. Randall gets really worried about Rebecca and tells Kevin that the house is amazing, but he’s not leaving her all alone in it.

The entire scene is so touching and heartbreaking because every kid wants to do something amazing for their parents and payback for what they did for them. It’s time for Kevin, Kate, and Randall to do the same. They understand that leaving her alone won’t be feasible and even though she said to not “hold up” their dreams for her, the kids can’t just leave her alone for achieving what they want to. The conversation between the Big Three was really emotional and it couldn’t have gotten better than that.

Kate has always had a special relationship with her mother and we did get a glimpse of that in this episode. When she was in a dilemma of what to do, a phone call from Toby helped her understand that her mother chose her as her guardian.

However, when you have your loved ones close to you, you get to be the best version of yourself. Beth makes Randall understands that his siblings are no longer the way he believes they are. In the end, Kate takes everything in her hands and tells their siblings that she will make the decision of who’s going to take care of her. She made them understand that it is not just taking care of their mom, it’s all about what she needs right now and all she needs is FAMILY.

Everyone understood that and came up with a decision that would be amazing for Rebecca. Kevin and Sophie decide to move to the Pearson House and they will be taking care of Rebecca. But they won’t be alone because Madison, Elijah, Nicky, and his partner will also be there to take care of her. Kate and Randall accept that and once again, the Big Three come together to take care of the most precious person in their lives: Rebecca.

This is what families do. They stick together and do what’s best for every member. It was a full circle for Kevin because when he was small, Rebecca used to put her to sleep, and now, it’s Kevin who is making her bed and putting her to bed. ‘This Is Us’ is known for making people cry by showing what could happen to people in real life and this was one of the moments that would hit everyone hard.

The episode ended on a sad note because Rebecca doesn’t have much time and it’s time for the entire family to come and be with her.
