‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 9: Is Deja expecting Malik's baby? Here's the big twist for Randall's daughters
There's a new surprise waiting as you tune into the heartwarming ‘This Is Us’ episode. It dives right into a scene where we see a graceful Black woman at the Labor and Delivery section at a hospital. As the group is given a lesson, we realize that she is none other than adult Deja Andrews (La Trice Harper) making faces and looking disinterested to learn.
One of her colleagues then snaps at her, “You are not even going to pretend to be interested?” She retorts back, “It's babies. It's not that complicated.” He laughs and lets her be. The doctor then hints at how giving birth to babies seems easy until families drive back home. A series of car rides propels the Pearsons towards new stages of their lives.

The scene shifts to all the couples from the show — from Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) to Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and Madison Simons (Caitlin Thompson) — going back with their babies.
When we see Deja again, she hops into a car and tells Annie (Iyana Halley), “You are late!” But she remarks, “You wanna be on time, get your own car.” Deja then sees a toy giraffe hiding there. “I know it's early and I know you're not telling anyone.” Deja is pregnant and Annie knows. The question is: Who else knows? Well, only time will tell. As Deja looks at the toy lovingly, Annie says, “It's a toy from France. You're gonna love it. It's like magic.” And when she sees her feeling the little baby bump, Annie sarcastically comments, “It's not going to remain a secret for long if you keep touching your belly like that.” Deja defends herself, “What? I didn't touch my belly.”
We next see Deja and Annie in the final scene. Tess Pearson (Iantha Richardson) steps out from the mansion and tells them, “You are late!” Deja quips, “Annie made us late.” They all then meet Randall Pearson (Sterling K Brown) — who looks old but charming as ever.
With a glint in his eyes, he hugs his daughters and says, “The beautiful bountiful branches of my family.” Deja asks, “How are you holding up?” There seems to be a shadow of sorrow in Randall's eyes but he says, “I'm okay... I'm better now, seeing you three.” He asks, “You okay, Dej?” and Deja then replies, “I'm fine, long day.” The beautiful twist ends with Randall holding Deja close.
The cliffhanger leaves one too many questions in mind: Who have the three girls come to see? Is Rebecca okay? Are they are Kevin's house? What will happen to the three girls now and who knows about Deja's pregnancy?
