'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 7: We are excited for a Deja-Malik episode, but Randall and Beth aren't going to be pleased

It is clear that Malik and Deja have a special relationship, but will Randall and Beth ever come around? We will find out soon enough
PUBLISHED OCT 30, 2019

Since the premiere of Season 4 of 'This is Us', we have patiently waited for a full-fledged Deja (Lyrica Ross) and Malik (Asante Blackk) episode and we are finally getting it.

The upcoming Episode 7 of the NBC show will focus on the teens and their budding relationship, much to the annoyance of Randall (Sterling K Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson).

The couple made their displeasure regarding this relationship abundantly clear, but Deja is clearly paying no heed to their disapproval.

In the trailer for 'The Dinner And The Date', we see that Deja and Malik bunking school to explore Philly — well, Malik's Philly. They seem to be having a lovely day, and Deja is swept off her feet with Malik's attentiveness and loving gestures.

At one point we even hear her say, "The way you look at me, I never thought anybody could look at me like that." It is clear that they have a special relationship, but will Randall and Beth ever come around?

We will find out soon enough. Potentially after finding out that their daughter bunked school for Malik, Beth and Randall call his parents over for dinner. They want to find out if they are good people, and from what we saw in Season 4's premiere episode, they are.

Meanwhile, in the past too, Randall's story is in the focus, with Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) trying to get to know their son's new teacher who seems to have a huge influence on him.

Randall expressed to his father in the previous episode that he feels like his "blackness" is being ignored by him, and Jack took note of that.

He wants to ensure that he allows his son to thrive, and that is what he hopes to accomplish by getting to know his black teacher and learning from him about what is the world is like for a black man out in the world.

We are excited to watch both these stories come to fruition when 'This is Us' returns with Season 4 Episode 7 titled 'The Dinner And The Date' airs on Tuesday, November 5.
