NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The Internet was stunned after Mark Fisher, the co-founder and former senior director of a Black Lives Matter chapter in Rhode Island, announced he is supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Mark appeared on 'FOX & Friends' on Tuesday, November 28 when he accused the Democrats of "duplicity", stating that the party does not have the best interests of the Black community.

"We understand when someone is for us and when someone is not, and it's obvious the Democratic Party is not for us," he said, according to Sky News.

When asked why he would choose Donald Trump over the other contenders, the BLM leader responded that a lot of people are "misinformed" about the 45th US president.

"A lot of people are misinformed, they don't really understand because they don't educate themselves on Donald Trump,” Fisher said, adding “Personally I love the man. I mean, how could you not like a real man? How could you not relate to someone like that?”

Mark Fisher expresses support for Donald Trump

This is not the first time Fisher has expressed support for Trump. Earlier in November, Fisher was asked why he supported Trump, and he replied, “Because everybody else sucks. [...] You know, I like Trump personally, and I think right now who we have sitting in the Oval Office [Joe Biden] is just a deep disappointment.”

“I deeply have disdain for him, and I really dislike the vice president [Kamala Harris] as well,” he said during an interview with radio host Kim Iverson.

At another point, he stated that he did not feel “alone” as a BLM leader who supported Trump. "I feel like the tide is starting to turn," Fisher said.

"I feel like a lot of Black people are starting to pivot off of that Democratic plantation. For so long, we've been slaves to that party. Actually, we've been mental slaves, afraid to get off of that plantation,” the former leader expressed.

He previously expressed his sympathy for conservative viewpoints, as seen in August 2023 when he referred to the Capitol rioters on January 6 as "political prisoners" and declared his solidarity with them, according to Snopes.

Additionally, he publicly defended the Proud Boys movement members who took part in the Capitol rioting. “They’re lambs led to slaughter to be sacrificed as an example for all who might want to dissent in the future,” he told 'The Epoch Times' in October 2023.

Internet reacts to Mark Fisher’s remarks

After Fisher’s remarks surfaced on the Internet, many users expressed their shock over his support for Trump. “There's a plot twist. But everyone is suffering under Biden, so definitely understandable,” one user said.

“No one wants Biden! That much is obvious He prioritizes America last. This affects everyone regardless of race,” the second user slammed.

“Wow this is something I didn’t see coming either! The Black community is sick of being misled by the media and know Trump isn’t a racist, and know they were doing better under his administration! It seems they like cheap food and gas!” the third user expressed.

“This man has common sense… get to know Trump and you will agree with him! President Trump loves this country and we will be better with him as the leader,” the fourth user stated.

“Well, this is a shocking development. You know things are bad if a BLM Co-founder is supporting the GOP,” the fifth user wrote.

“I find this bizarre, but I'm not necessarily unopposed to this series of events. At least it's very entertaining,” one more said.
