The first episode sees Moiraine and Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney) embarking on a journey to find one person who has taken rebirth as the Dragon. The reason for finding this person is because he will either destroy the world or help in saving the planet. Apart from Moiraine, a dark entity is also looking out for that individual and trying to kill him/her. According to a prophecy, the Dragon will be able to eliminate the darkness from the planet and make it prosper once again.
While searching for the individual, Moiraine and Lan Mandragoran reach a small town and spend the night there. People are really surprised to see them there. However, things get worse really soon there. During the night, the entire town was singing and dancing when a young man is killed. We get to see a mythical creature terrorizing the town. Soon we discover that there are many such creatures lurking around and they are killing the people of that town for fun.
However, we see one of the creatures dying because of magic. Moiraine and Lan have come to the town to help people and kill the Trollocs who ambushed the town on Emond’s Field. After an epic battle sequence, the Trollocs army is killed by Moiraine’s magical powers and Lan’s swift sword-fighting. The Aes Sedai identifies four young people – Rand (Josha Stradowski), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Barney Harris), and Egwene (Madeleine Madden) – and tells them to accompany her if they want to save the people of the town. She tells them that one of you is the Dragon Reborn and that’s why the Dark One is coming for them. If they want their loved ones to survive, then they should leave the town and come with them.
The episode ends with Moiraine embarking on a journey to a place where magic exists. Is one of them really a dragon reborn? Or is there a twist in the tale? We’ll find out that in the upcoming episodes.
‘The Wheel of Time’ returns to Amazon Prime Video with a new episode every Friday.
