'The Voice' 2023: Niall Horan and Kelly Clarkson mock Blake Shelton for his pitch to Mary Kate Connor
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 23 marks the last season for Blake Shelton and he wants to have every talented singer on his team. In the latest episode of the NBC show, Mary Kate Connor stunned coaches with her "angelic" vocals.
Connor's impressive vocals made Kelly Clarkson and Blake fight over the aspiring teen singer. However, newbie Niall Horan hilariously mocked Blake as he tried to convince Connor to join Team Blake. Kelly, who returned to the NBC show chair after a long hiatus, also joined Niall in the fun moment during the singing competition.

Who is Mary Kate Connor?
Connor hails from Ashburn, Virginia. The 17-year-old aspiring singer is a senior at Stone Bridge High School. Connor auditioned for Les Miserable at Heritage High School in Leesburg when she was 9. Since then, she has been performing in musicals around her town. Cooner's first performance sparked a passion for singing. She later attended Rock Ridge High School in Ashburn for two years to perform in their musical theater program. However, Cooner transferred to Stone Bridge High School during her junior year. She tried new things other than singing in the new school.
Cooner started learning how to play the guitar and write her own music. The aspiring singer plans to attend James Madison University this fall. Meanwhile, Connor shared in an interview that she is grateful for the support she has received from friends and family throughout the process of auditioning for 'The Voice'.
Why did Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan mock Blake Shelton?
Cooner amazed the coaches with her performance. She sang 'Stars' by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals on NBC's 'The Voice' blind audition. Kelly and Blake are the only two who turned their chairs. Meanwhile, Niall praised the contestant and said, "It was incredible to hear so much power and so much control. You’re going to be around here for a long time."
However, Chance the Rapper revealed his own reasons for not turning around for her. The rapper said, "I didn't turn... I figured you would fair very well with either Blake or Kelly. Awesome song choice. Strong voice." Then the real battle between Kelly and Blake began. Blake was trying to pitch but Kelly chimed in and joked, "Do you want a decisive coach that knows what they’re going to say?" Kelly praised Cooner performance and said, "I loved how beautiful and tender it was. Usually, people slide into it to make it easier so they don’t sound pitchy. You just nailed it, dead on.”
Kelly went on to liken a delighted Mary Kate to a “younger Brandi Carlile." Blake then said, "I ran into Kelly Clarkson at a Brandi Carlile concert 10 or 12 years ago." Meanwhile, Kelly chimed in again and brutally mocked Blake and said, "Not because you were there!"
However, those exchanges were just for fun and Kelly proved that by giving an apology hug to her frenemy. Blake started his bid again and called Cooner's voice "soft and angelic". He added, "You can hear it in your approach because you do swing for the fence with that song."
Blake then asked Niall to do his impersonation and the former 'One Direction' member perfectly did it. Niall said, "So this is my last season of 'The Voice' and I would be honored if you were on my last ever Team Blake!" The social media users think Niall has perfectly obliged Blake's order. A user wrote underneath Cooner's audition video, "Wait, I know it's odd. But Niall is so cute 😅." Another added, "Niall is such a loyal son 😂😂😂😂😂." Another user said, "Nials Blake's impression is dead on." Another user joked, "Well, Niall and Blake look like father and son 🤣."
