‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Ending Explained: What happens to the Sparrow Academy?
The trailers for Season 3 hyped the Sparrows to an extent where we felt that they were a force to be reckoned with. For some time, it actually felt like they were more powerful than the Umbrellas, but the build-up didn’t last really long. Most of the members of the Sparrow Academy get killed when the season reaches halfway.
The first one to get killed is Marcus, who is sucked into the Kugelblitz. On the other hand, Harlan brutally kills Jayme and Alphonso. Later in the series, Fei and Christopher, the telekinetic cube, also become the victims of the kugelblitz.

Reginald Hargreeves once again shows why he can’t be trusted and puts everyone in danger like always. We all know that he can put anyone in harm’s way so that he can get successful in his motives. In Season 3, we see Reginald killing Luther and stopping Klaus from escaping with the rest of the family. Initially, everyone thought that these characters are finished and nothing could bring them back.
But we found that Luther and Klaus have ended up in the void and they can’t seem to find a way to get out of it. However, when Reginald resets the timeline, it gives Luther and Klaus a little time to escape the void. They take the advantage of the situation and finally manage to escape the void, reuniting with the rest of the family.
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Ending Explained: Is Sloane dead or alive?
Like always, Reginald didn’t tell anyone about what he was trying to do because if he would have told everyone about his work, it might lead to their deaths and no one would want to work with him. So, he keeps on doing what he does best and stitched a web of lies, using everyone single one of them for his own personal gains. The Umbrellas always knew who Reginald really is and even though, he tries harder to make everyone believe that he has changed, in the end, he proves them right that he is one evil man.
He creates a machine that will reset the timeline and the entire universe, but like every machine, it needs fuel to run. However, the fuel that the machine needs come from the children who were taken away from their mothers on October 1, 1989. So, he uses Klaus, Five, Viktor, Ben, Lila, Diego, and Sloane for running the machine. Interestingly, he stops Allison to join in because he only needed seven people for this plan.
When the machine starts working, it was inevitable that all the seven members used in the plan will die. However, when we witness the new timeline for the very first time, every member is alive, even Luther comes out alive from the void, along with Klaus.
Only one member is nowhere to be seen and that’s Sloane. When Allison finds out what is Reginald doing, she kills him and pushes the button that resets the timeline. Until then, Sloane was alive but she didn’t make it out with the rest of the members. Does that mean that she is dead? Well, not necessarily. It just suggests that Sloane might have dropped somewhere far away in the same timeline. Even Klaus tells others that she was right behind him, which means, she must have found another way to get out.
‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Ending Explained: Is ‘The Umbrella Academy’ together?
As soon as the entire timeline resets, every member of The Umbrella Academy reaches the courtyard where the hotel used to be, and it seems that everyone is safe. All their injuries are healed and everyone is alive. However, everything comes at a price and they had to pay a hefty price for returning to the original timeline. Every single member of the Umbrella Academy has lost their powers.
In the end, we see every member going in different directions. Diego and Lila are embarking on a journey together while Klaus is with Luther.
The ending seems to make us believe that there's a lot more to explore in 'The Umbrella Academy' universe and it will surely come for another run.
