Sexual assault was one of the topics explored in 'The Time Traveler's Wife' Episode 3. Rose Leslie's Clare Abshire laments about her relationship with a time traveler in Henry DeTamble (Theo James) and one of the storylines is when she's sexually abused by one of her friends from school. Jason (Spencer House) is one of the jocks in school who Clare meets during a party. Her 16-year-old self, already in love with Henry still decides to explore her options, but runs into the wrong guy as Jason no just bruises her, but also burns her with a cigarette — something he claims Clare loved.

This though didn't sit well with fans of the show, who are growing by the week. "I love that all those girls took back their power! Jason is pure trash #TheTimeTravelersWife," one of the fans wrote. "He raped Claire?! Oh hell no! Kill him! #TheTimeTravelersWife," another opined. While the Jason bashing continued, some praised the show. "Clare’s distress, Henry’s rage. Chef’s kiss performances by Rose and Theo. #TheTimeTravelersWife," one of the fans commented. Some felt Clare should have told the truth about Jason. "OH MY GOD! Never mind, kill him, boo! #TheTimeTravelersWife," a tweet read.

That Clare wanted him dead, but later changed her mind made it difficult for some to digest. "Why are we thinking about an inhaler if we're torturing Jason? #TheTimeTravelersWife," a fan asked. "Make up your mind, Clare! Either you want the guy dead or you don't. #TheTimeTravelersWife," another remarked.

The scene eventually ended with Henry confirming that he is indeed her husband when he tortures Jason after the duo nabs him from his home. Clare still hides the fact that she was raped by Jason, but she does feel elated to know that Henry was going to be the person she would spend her life with.

'The Time Traveler's Wife' airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO.
