However, they need to be committed to the job and not let emotions take over them. If they try to escape, they will be instantly killed by Waller. The original 2016 film did not see many characters dying, but Gunn has already made it clear that people should get attached to the characters because he will be showing no mercy to them and their favorite ones might die pretty early in the movie.

So, let’s take a look at the characters that are alive and the characters that have been killed off in a brutal fashion in the movie? But beware, major spoilers for the entire film can be found hereon.

Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) – DEAD

Unfortunately, Joel Kinnaman’s character is killed gruesomely in the movie. His death comes when he gets to know that his home country, the US, is also involved in the Project Starship, he takes the pledge of telling it to the world and steals a hard drive with the intention of leaking it to the media. However, Peacemaker (John Cena) gets in his way and stops him from doing that because he doesn’t want the US to be dragged down due to its involvement in the project. The duo gets in a brawl. At first, Flag had the upper hand, but in the end, it was Peacemaker who managed to kill him by putting sharp debris through his heart.

Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) – ALIVE

This doesn’t come as surprise to many. DC and WB won’t want to kill off one of the most popular characters in the DC Extended Universe. The character plays an important role in the battle against Starro and finally gets away from Waller’s grasp. She escapes the island and thinks of starting a new life.

Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian) – DEAD

Polka-Dot Man is one of the breakout characters in the movie and proves to be instrumental in the fight against the supervillain Starro. During the final battle, the character uses his abilities to take on the giant starfish. His mother always wanted him to be a hero and the character does everything to achieve his mother’s ambition. He manages to injure the supervillain with his gadgets. However, Starro doesn’t like that and crushes Polka-Dot Man under its weight.

Bloodsport (Idris Elba) – ALIVE

Idris Elba’s character is undoubtedly the strongest in the movie. So, killing him would have been a big mistake. Bloodsport has some really amazing action sequences in the movie and becomes the official leader of the group by the end of the battler. He had a bittersweet relationship with his daughter and always tried to make it better. In the end, his daughter finds new respect for her father and it is highly likely that they try to repair their relationship.

The Thinker (Peter Capaldi) – DEAD

The Thinker is one of the characters who actually experimented on Starro for 30 years at Corto Maltese. So, it was a befitting end for The Thinker to get completely massacred by the gigantic starfish. During the beach battle, Starro the Conquerer grabs him by his tendrils and literally pulls him apart. The scene is undoubtedly one of the bloodiest and goriest scenes fans will ever see in a comic-book adaptation.

Peacemaker (John Cena) – ALIVE

Peacemaker’s character is extremely well-written and we already know that HBO Max is already developing a series on the character. The series will be a prequel and the makers might have decided to kill him during the battle in the film. However, he just manages to stay alive.

In the movie, Peacemaker was attempting to kill Ratchatcher 2 when Bloodsport arrived at the right time and saved her by putting a tiny bullet to the head. At first, everyone thought that Peacemaker is one of the casualties and his story is finished. However, the post-credits scene reveals that the character miraculously survived the bullet and was being treated in a hospital.

Savant (Michael Rooker) – DEAD

Michael Rooker’s character did not have much role in the movie and was killed in the starting moments of the fight. As soon as the mission takes a bloody turn, Savant starts to panic and attempts to flee the island. However, Waller is someone that you should not mess with. She triggers the implanted explosive in the base of his skull and Savant dies instantly.

Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchoir) – ALIVE

If there’s one character that made everyone happy in the movie, it is Ratcatcher 2. Even with such a tragic past, she was kind to her teammates and always helped them during the battle. When she was in danger, Bloodsport came for her and saved her from Peacemaker. She is one of the few characters that are given the opportunity to live a free life after they blackmail Amanda Waller of releasing the footage stolen by Rick Flagg to the press.

Blackguard (Pete Davidson) – DEAD

Probably, he was the only character who deserved to die so early in the movie. Blackguard was a part of The Suicide Squad but tipped off the Corto Maltese forces about the infiltration. However, the forces did not care about the dead and kill him anyway.

TDK (Nathan Fillion) – DEAD

Fillion’s character gets brutally killed during the opening beach battle after his detachable hands are repeatedly shot.

Weasel (Sean Gunn) – ALIVE

Weasel is one of the weirdest characters in comic-book history. During the opening beach scene, it appears that he drowned in the ocean because the creature doesn’t know how to swim. Savant did try to save him and swim him to the shore. But, he pronounced the creature dead. However, the film’s final scene sees Weasel getting up once again, spluttering water across the beach before running off into the jungle.

King Shark (Sylvester Stallone) – ALIVE

During the whole course of the movie, there are moments when you feel that King Shark is going to die. However, he manages to survive till the end and is one of the characters who escape the island with the remaining members. His relationship with Ratcatcher 2 is a treat to watch.

Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) – DEAD

In the first film, Waller was unnerving. She did not care about feelings and wanted things to be like she intended to. In the latest edition, Amanda is more dangerous than ever. Some of the decisions taken by her during the mission shocked everyone and it went to an extent that one of her close friends banged her hand with a golf club and took over the mission for a brief moment of time. Her reputation has gone down as well after everyone gets to know about the government’s involvement in the project.

Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) – DEAD

He was one of the most integral characters in the original movie. However, the actor had a minor role in this one. He gets brutally killed in the opening moments of the movie.
