In a very tense moment from the previous episode, when detective Vic Soto asked Harry Ambrose why he was so invested in keeping Jamie Burns safe, the older detective had replied, if something happens to Jamie, it's on him. At the end of the episode, the shaman Jamie had come across at Sophie's party was found dead in his apartment, hinting at the possibility that Jamie did give in to his inherent violence and committed his first murder. And by the looks of it, in the coming Episode 5, we will see Ambrose bearing the brunt of accountability.

In a newly released promo for the upcoming Episode 5, we hear Ambrose's voiceover warn "This is going to come down, I knew eventually, and there's no way around it." The very next moment, the scene switches to a frustrated Jamie announcing he isn't crazy while he can also be seen dumping giant garbage bags into the nearby river. Jamie also pleads with (presumably) Ambrose to help him get his life back, which is an aftermath of the intense heart-to-heart conversation he had with Ambrose the last time they were together, in the detective's car.

Jamie had told Ambrose about this inherent loneliness within him where everybody seems out of sync, knocking into each other as he sits there in the despair of it all. Jamie asked Ambrose if he felt the same way too and the older man's reassurance seems to have really touched this newly emerging psychopath. But now, with the shaman slash psychic from Episode 4 being found dead in his apartment, Ambrose has other things to worry about.

The promo clip shows Jamie and Ambrose in a bit of a physical brawl, right before the scene switches to the police department and Ambrose is being told that he is a suspect in the murder of the shaman too. They tell him the case has spiraled out of his control and things are only going to get worse, thereby clearing why Ambrose didn't want to let Jamie out of his sight that night. It wasn't just about what Jamie would do to hurt himself under the influence of Nick's psychological hold over him, Ambrose knew Jamie is going to attack and not just himself and much as he had anticipated, the moment Jamie stepped out of line, the blame is on Ambrose. As for what's in those garbage bags, or why Jamie and Ambrose get into a fight, only the fifth episode will reveal it.

'The Sinner' Season 3 airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET only on USA Network.
