'Frisco King' casts four new actors alongside Samuel L. Jackson and things just got interesting
Samuel L. Jackson's 'Frisco King' has added four new series regulars to its expanding cast, Deadline reported on March 5. Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate, and Savanna Gann will all star in the upcoming project, which is a spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's crime thriller, 'Tulsa King.' The Oscar nominee Jackson will reprise his role as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a veteran hitman from New Orleans who was introduced in Season 3 of 'Tulsa King.' Sheridan's longtime collaborators, Christina Alexandra Voros and Michael Friedman, are among the show's directors. Voros is confirmed to direct the pilot episode of the series, which starts production later this month in Fort Worth, Texas.
Originally titled 'NOLA King,' the spinoff series' initial log line revealed that it would see Washington taking on Dwight Manfredi, who is part of a dangerous criminal empire. As per the characters' official descriptions, Germann will play Teddy, “a sharp, savvy, entrepreneurial college dropout who gets Lee’s attention.” The 28-year-old actor was recently seen as Lucas Bowden in 'Scream 7,' and also played Sam Riordan in the superhero series 'Gen V,' a spinoff of the Prime Video series, 'The Boys.' Caster's character, Keith, is “a polite valet at the local Sandman Hotel.” He starred as the young Kayce in Sheridan's 'Yellowstone' and will be seen in its upcoming spinoff, 'The Dutton Ranch.'
Furthermore, Pate will star as London, “a local cheerleading goddess recruited by Lee, who’s not afraid to use her good looks to get what she wants” in the Paramount+ series. She played Peeler in 'Outer Banks,' and starred as Gigi in the Netflix hit, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty.' Gann will appear as Avery, “a fellow cheerleader and friend of London’s who’s also recruited to join Lee’s crew” in 'Frisco King.' Gann played Runa in Zack Snyder’s sci-fi film 'Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire' (2023) and 'Part Two: The Scargiver' (2024).
Sheridan has written all eight episodes of the upcoming series. Deadline noted that the President of Paramount Television Studios, Matt Thunell, said in a statement, “We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of ‘Frisco King’ and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic character. Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of ‘Tulsa King’ and audiences around the world.” The spinoff series is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Keith Cox, David Hutkin, Sylvester Stallone, Friedman, Voros, Jackson, and his wife LaTanya Richardson Jackson.
