The one thing that Season 3 of 'The Sinner' has firmly established is that Nick (Chris Messina) is dead, but his hold over the prime suspect Jamie Burns (Matt Bomer) clearly isn't. So far, we have seen Jamie visit the car crash where he willingly let Nick bleed to his death without alerting 911, and also witnessed Jamie's self-destructive tendencies of placing his palm over burning grills and flames.

But it has also been obvious that Nick, Jamie's mysterious college buddy turned stranger for 18 years before the recent events, has a clear hold on Jamie's psyche - almost like a dark spirit driving Jamie to do all the things he isn't supposed to. Let's mingle with that the recurring suspicion over Sonya, the dazed artist, and voila - we have the third episode aka Part III of this season.

The official teaser for Episode 3, as shared by the USA Network, goes through a 20-second montage with voiceovers from Jamie, Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman), and Sonya making it to the cut. Jamie can be heard talking a lot about death - which is possibly from the recent suspected-murder of Nick that has seemingly shaken the base of what they live in.

The trailer takes us through Jamie talking about the inevitability of death and the futility of bringing new life into this messed-up planet. There's no certainty about what might have triggered the epiphany from Jamie's end, but something tells us this is less about his and Leela's soon-to-be-arriving baby, and more about letting the man he may or may not have been romantically involved with, die.

On the other hand, Ambrose, when not alluding that Nick might still have a psychological grasp on Jamie, even from beyond the grave, invests time protecting and investigating Sonya in equal parts. The painter with a penchant for nude male portraits has already addressed her concerns surrounding Jamie to Ambrose, thus spurring his suspicion. For Ambrose, however, it is difficult to look at Sonya as anything but a suspect.

It could be just the mysterious circumstances surrounding Nick's death and the grave that he has been buried in Sonya's property, or it could just be Ambrose's spidey-sense-of-sorts tingling because the seasoned detective has seen too many innocent faces committing vicious crimes to take Sonya's word for it.

'The Sinner' Season 3 airs on Thursdays at 9 pm only on USA Network.
