Spoilers for Season 3 Episode 7

Tonight's Episode 7 of 'The Sinner' Season 3 was, in one word, tense. We saw Ambrose finally make out of the grave alive and secretly record Jamie confessing to the murders.

Jamie got arrested, Leela tried to plead with him to confess in court and failed, and on account of Ambrose pretending friendship to coerce the confession out of him, Jamie got out on bail as well.

Strangely enough, the very next thing he does is visit him home, where he learned that Leela has issued an order of protection against him, which wouldn't permit him to linger on the premises at all.

That somehow snaps something in Jamie for sure, and the next scene shows him in a bathroom, shirtless, with Nick very carefully cutting his hair—- something that has fans convinced that Jamie's transformation into Nick is complete.

Over the course of his confession, Jamie explained to Ambrose why he had let the older detective stay buried for over eight hours. He claimed he needed Ambrose to be convinced that he was going to die because "Nick did the same thing" for him.

Even the murders he went on to commit, both the psychic Kyle and the other detective's as we saw at the end of Episode 7, Jamie claimed that they were all under Nick's direction that he had been so manipulated under for years.

And then we saw the ultimate — after being kicked out by Leela, Jamie presumably arrived at a motel and in the bathroom we see him shirtless, accompanied by Nick himself, who is about to cut Jamie's hair.

With the new crew cut hair and a clean-shaven face, when Jamie finally looks into the mirror, Nick is gone, but not quite. Instead of a separate entity, it's almost as if Nick's hovering ominous presence transferred into Jamie because that's how similar he looked to his now dead friend.

There was also that signature smirk on his face which viewers will associate with Nick and every time Jamie gets within a foot's distance to someone else, there's an eerie tension — anxious anticipation of sorts that builds up in viewer's minds, making us think that he is going to murder the person.

Noting all of this, fans took to Twitter to voice their spooked take on the entire situation, with one of them straight up asking: "Is Jamie becoming Nick???" Another one addressed the whole process very beautifully and remarked: "Jamie looks spooky after that hair cut. His metamorphosis came full circle."

They weren't the only ones to observe the similarities between Jamie's new look and Nick's signature one, as tweets poured in on how shaken the whole scene left some fans. "Jamie’s haircut makes him look like Nick...I’m concerned," wrote one.

Another elaborated: "You know what's scary, and I think that's the intention, is that he legit looks like Nick. No joke, Jamie's look scares the shit out of me. From up close and from a distance all I can see is Nick."

For another section of fans, Jamie's actions were less unnerving and more infuriating. One of them pointed out: "Jamie is the master manipulator here. He let Nick die & killed that psychic and he’s making Ambrose seem like the unraveling idiot. Brilliant move Jamie, but it will backfire... I HOPE!"

They also added how "No one believes your (Jamie's) ridiculous diatribe. Ambrose is on to you. He let you bury him alive to see how demented you are! You are a narcissistic killer who let your male lover Nick control your mind & soul!"

'The Sinner' season 3 airs on Thursdays at 10 pm on USA Network.
