Did 'The Simpsons' predict Kamala Harris' inauguration outfit? Fans convinced show writers have a time machine
Every few months, news reports emerge that 'The Simpsons' correctly predicted a current event sending fans on social media in a frenzy. Over the last couple of months since the election results in November 2020 alone, Twitter has blown up several times claiming the 'The Simpsons' rightly predicted the future. Be it the Capitol riots, Twitter ban, or even the election results, it looks like the Fox hit never gets anything wrong. And this time around, on the eve of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Karris' inauguration, the show is trending on Twitter for apparently correctly predicting Harris’s inauguration outfit.
'The Simpsons' fans are convinced that the show had once predicted Harris' victory as vice president almost two decades earlier. "Kamala Harris really is Lisa Simpson and I’m all for it," a user took to Twitter to point the similarities out along with snaps of the two of them alongside each other.

In an episode that originally aired in 2000 titled 'Bart To The Future', Lisa is shown to become the first female President of the United States just after Donald Trump. While the animated show did not actually show Harris in the position of the vice president, but after becoming president, Lisa claims that her administration inherited “quite a budget crunch” from him. Who doesn't know this to be true.
What makes fans even more excited about this latest similarity between reel and real life is the fact that Lisa's outfit from the episode is eerily similar to that of Harris on the day of the Inauguration. Harris, along with Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton, wore purple as a sign of unity. The outfit was also accompanied by a pearl necklace. In the episode, Lisa is also seen wearing a purple suit and a pearl necklace.
Fans of the show on Twitter are pleasantly surprised to say the least. "Yeah, everything that ever will be has already been on “The Simpsons”. But this is a bit on the nose," one tweeted. "Notice how the carpet is blue. And there are frames on the table behind her? Theres definitely prophecy in the Simpsons. They knew about Ttump, 9/11, and covid. And now what colour Kamala would wear. How odd," another concurred adding further details about the similarities.

Some are so impressed with the show's sharp attention to detail and predictions. "Someone in the #simpsons has a fucking time machine I swear. @KamalaHarris," one added.

Technically, it could also be the other way round. Perhaps, it was Harris' plan all along to dress up like Lisa Simpson. A possibility that fans wouldn't put past the new Vice President. "Maybe Kamala is a massive Simpsons fan and dressed like that on purpose...?" one wrote on Twitter.

This similarity, however, doesn't discount differences in Lisa and Harris' political ideas. "This doesn't work as I'm pretty sure Lisa Simpson would be pro defunding the cops and was the actual president. Kamala being an ex cop, showed very pro refunding the police all throughout the campaign and is just the vice president of USA," one user smartly pointed out. Fans of the show had earlier pointed out to the many different predictions made - the coronavirus pandemic and Trump's presidency in a 1993 episode, the US Capitol storming in a 1996 episode, and Tom Hanks' coronavirus isolation in their 2007 movie.
