Korean rock band The Rose has taken legal action to terminate their contract with their agency, JnStar Company, for failing to pay compensation to the band members since they signed with them, three years ago.

The Rose, comprising of members Kim Woosung, Park Dojoon, Lee Hajoon and Lee Jaehyeong have filed to nullify their exclusive contract with the agency on grounds of never once providing them with revenue settlement, breaking of trust relationship and violation of the contract.

The band claimed that prior to signing the contract the agency promised monthly revenue reports, but has instead demanded a grueling schedule with no proper reason for the lack of settlement. The settlement form that they received recently had some incomprehensible information and on demanding an explanation, the agency failed to deliver answers.

Furthermore, the four-member band alleged that the agency arranged for an excessive schedule for their upcoming US tour without their consultation. The schedule highlights 17 performances in 17 US cities in under 32 days, should a performance be held every two days, making it an exhausting tour schedule to manage.

As a result, The Rose has collectively decided to pause their schedule amidst their legal battle, including any scheduled broadcasts and album releases.

All four members took to their respective social media to post about taking action against their company. They have issued apologies to their fans in Korea and all over the world through various media outlets saying, "We hope to terminate our contracts with the agency, as soon as possible. We apologize to our fans."

The Rose made their debut with their single, "Sorry", in 2017 and have garnered a prominent fan following beyond its home base, across Europe and the Americas.

Fans are enraged at the agency, and have taken the opportunity to praise The Rose for working vigorously since they debuted,  in spite of not being paid for their work. They have also taken to social media to trend  #WeStandWithTheRose in a show of support and to stand in solidarity with the band. Fans have been tweeting in support of the band saying: "They deserve so much i just can’t stop saying it please even if you aren’t a black rose please stand with the rose they deserve a lot more than overworking and not getting paid for what they’ve been doing for the past three years #WeStandWithTheRose."

However,JnStar Entertainment has refuted The Rose's claims, stating, "The Rose's claims that we 'violated terms in the exclusive contract' are entirely false."

The label says, "We have always informed The Rose of all of their promotional schedules such as overseas tours, broadcast activities, etc, well ahead of time, also coming to agreements with the members regarding each activity, not to mention preparation schedules such as practices, makeup, and such. We also provided The Rose with a document detailing all of the expenses and revenues from the band's full promotions since they signed the exclusive contract, and received confirmation that they saw the document."

JnStar Entertainment said they would be taking counter legal measures against The Rose including damages for breaches of contract, defamation of character, and more.
