'The Rookie' Season 3 Episode 6 Spoilers: Can Lucy Chen manage undercover work when up against crime syndicate?
'The Rookie' Season 3 Episode 5 titled 'Lockdown' saw the main plotline veer away from Nolan (Nathan Fillion) to shed light on the drama that unfolded between Jackson West (Titus Makin Jr) and his training officer Doug Stanton (Brandon Routh). Jackson risked not only his career but also his life by calling out a senior officer for being a misogynist and a racist. It was also clear that the only reason Doug helped Jackson in Episode 5 was that Bradford and Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil) had arrived on the scene. Not helping his partner may not be the right image for a cop who is otherwise appreciated and looked up to by junior officers.
Even as Stanton does his best to bury the truth, Jackson tries just as hard to bring out the truth. He even manages to switch the body-cam on Stanton on and save the footage of the last few moments in an attempt to out the truth and Jackson's fight reflects how one cop could ruin an entire precinct. Despite his obvious racist way of dealing with suspects and their families, Stanton continues to be respected.

In fact, when Jackson had tried to raise his voice against Stanton, many, including Bradford had told him to lie low. He was told to not make a big deal out of Stanton's behavior and just try his best to complete his training under Stanton. However, Jackson rose above and beyond all of this. What is shocking is that despite the presence of two veteran Black officers in the precinct – West and Grey – Stanton's behavior was not only condoned but also left to fester.
The synopsis of Episode 6 titled 'Revelations' reads, "Officer Nolan's decision to return to school in order to become a training officer proves to be much harder than he expected; Officer Chen considers going into undercover work after getting a taste of the job."
Harper agrees to Lucy's request. Turns out Lucy loves undercover work and she also explains to Harper why she might be really good as an undercover cop. However, not everyone agrees with Lucy, an untrained probationary officer being involved in a dangerous operation. Especially Bradford. However, it seems that Nolan might be the one person who trusts Lucy to take care of herself even in a sticky situation. He trusts that she will be able to take care of herself, even when she is pitted against one of the most dangerous crime syndicates in California.
The question now is if Nolan's judgment may be wrong. After all, there is a lot that can go wrong in an undercover op. All of this while Nolan attempts to return to school to become a training officer himself. Of course, the fact that he was abducted in the episode titled 'Lockdown' doesn't help.
