ABC's 'The Rookie' is a police procedural drama, with some comic elements that follow John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the oldest rookie at the LAPD. Season 2 finale aired on Sunday, May 10. And now, after what seems like a long wait for fans, the show is returning for a third installment and there is a lot to look forward to. What we last remember, is that Nolan and Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox) had just gathered enough concrete evidence against Detective Nick Armstrong (Harold Perrineau) that proved the precinct legend was in cahoots with Serj Darien. After Nolan made the wrong decision of confronting Armstrong alone, gunfire was exchanged, with the latter winding up wounded.

Armstrong revealed that he had taken measures to frame Nolan as being the other dirty cop that the late Erin Cole was in league with — and this shootout will only corroborate that scenario. Nolan rushed home and frantically searched for the evidence that Armstrong had planted somewhere. But just as he found a compartment built into the wall behind his headboard, sirens and lights arrived outside his doorstep, ready to make an arrest. Season 2 ended with John Nolan dealing with the fact that he was set up by Nick Armstrong (Harold Perrineau) and is facing trouble with the law. This was a cliffhanger ending that had fans hoping for a Season 3.
