'The Protector' Season 4: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Netflix's Turkish drama
Netflix's 'The Protector' aka 'Hakan: Muhafız' may have just come out with its third season earlier this year, but a new season of the Turkish supernatural drama is on its way. Netflix's first Turkish original, 'The Protector' first premiered in December 2018 and has since gone on to become a fan favorite.
In 'The Protector', Hakan Demir, a 20-something shopkeeper and part-time con artist life changes after his adoptive father, Neset, is killed. Hakan then meets the Loyal Ones, Kemal and Zeynep. The Loyals Ones are part of an ancient secret order whose duty is to protect the city of Istanbul from the Immortals. Hakan himself is the Protector, who is the only one who can kill the Immortals and prevent the destruction of the city with his talismanic shirt that gives him mystic powers.
Over the first season, we meet Faysal who is the only Immortal left alive. All Faysal wants to do is bring his wife, Ruya back from the dead using Hakan's blood. However, by the end of Season 1, all the Immortals came back to life. In the second season, Hakan realized he had a brother. Unfortunately, his brother was influenced by the Immortals and ended up doing their bidding releasing a virus and poison on the humans of Istanbul so that the Immortals can have the city back for themselves.

Season 4 of 'The Protector' will be available to stream on Netflix on July 9 from 12 am PST.
Plot
The third season, which dropped on Netflix in March this year, followed the aftermath of the virus being released in Istanbul. With the arrival of a new Immortal, Hakan's mission is made more complicated when Zeynep and he break up. However, when all seems lost, Hakan finds a key that takes him to the past.
The new Immortal, Vizir, is getting ready to conquer Istanbul with a fury of 600 years. We also meet Nisan, a biomedical engineer whom the Immortals used to create the virus. Hakan and Nisan get closer, only for Hakan to realize that Nisan is actually Vizir. With Hakan having fallen in love with Vizir, his powers are negated. In a daring move, Hakan dies and comes back to life with the help of Zeynep and the Loyal Ones so that his talismanic shirt gets back its powers.
However, in the final moments of the season, Hakan finds himself transported to hundreds of years in the past, when his doppelganger ancestor had first made Vizir fall in love with him and broke her heart.

Hazar Ergüçlü is a Turkish actress best known for her roles in 'Kuzey Güney' and 'Medcezir'. She plays the role of Zeynep, one of the Loyal Ones, Hakan's trainer and eventual love interest.
The series also stars Okan Yalabık as Faysal Erdem, Burçin Terzioğlu as Ruya Erdem, Taner Ölmez as Burak, and Funda Eryiğit asVizir.
