Noted food blogger, cookbook author, and television personality, Ree Drummond, also known as 'The Pioneer Woman', shared husband Ladd Drummond's health update following a tough week. On March 10, Wednesday, Ladd and his nephew, Caleb, were involved in a truck collision while responding to a fire emergency at the family's farm near Osage County, Oklahoma. Even though he had said he felt okay to drive to the hospital, by the time Ree arrived Ladd was diagnosed with fractures in two places.

"Ladd was transferred to Tulsa and had surgery to stabilize one of the fractures. Thanks to some rods and other hardware (and an amazing neurosurgeon named Dr. Kalani), it’s fixed now and that danger is over," Ree shared updated her blog and added that he would have to wear a neck brace for "several weeks."

The collision did throw Ree off balance briefly but she is back now, and picking up the pieces. "I guess if you’ve lived enough years as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, you’re going to develop the ability to power through crises without crumbling," she wrote on her site

Who is Ladd Drummond?

This Wrangler-wearing cowboy is a fourth-generation cattle rancher who lives out of Pawhuska, Oklahoma with his wife Ree and their five children. When not cattle-herding or maintaining acres of farmland, he usually kicks back with a bottle of Dr Pepper and movies.

Even though he is attached to his roots and enjoys his time looking after the ranch, Ladd did leave the town briefly to attend Arizona State University. He picked up his degree and a liking for college football, and both of those things have served him well so far. Since Ladd knows the sport like the back of his hand, he has no trouble supporting his son Bryce when he's out on the field. "Ladd and all his friends were in the men's locker room almost the whole reception to watch the game," Ree recalled a moment from their wedding day and added that Ladd has always been an ardent ASU fan. But perhaps Ree can let that one episode go given how efficient Ladd has gotten over the years - he is a grill master and an excellent skier.

How did Ladd and Ree meet?

Ree was out with her friends and having a good time at a bar when she saw Ladd sipping on bottled beer flaunting his biceps and cowboy boots. What followed was a lengthy conversation that ended with hopes of a call the next morning. But the phone didn't buzz until four months later. He picked her up for a date and their night concluded with a kiss at her parents' porch.

Inside the couple's happy marriage

They enjoy spending time in the kitchen but what gets them going are movie nights. They love "cheesy 80s flicks" with a side of 'Godfather' while munching on stovetop popcorn and queso. "Some couples show love by leaving sweet notes for each other around the house. Others go on picnics, go hiking together, or take long walks in the evening, hand in hand," Ree shared and added: "Ladd and me? Well, our primary love language seems to be pranking." That is one very interesting way to keep the spark alive because they have been married 24 years now.
