'The Outsider' Episode 3: No one seems to be heeding little Jessa's warning about the 'man' except for fans

We'd hope that someone would actually believe Jessa instead of shrugging it off to a bad dream especially since she claims it's not a dream and she's seen the man four times

If you've read Stephen King's novels, then you know he does not shy away from eerie narratives. HBO's adaption of the novel, 'The Outsider', brings us closer to the paranormal with the airing of Episode 3, 'Dark Uncle'.

Little Jessa Maitland, who's dad late Terry, was arrested for the rape and murder of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson, is seeing a "man" at night but not in her dreams.

In this episode, we are privy to what she sees as she explains it to lead detective Ralph Anderson and his wife. She tells Anderson that the man told him to "stop" and if he doesn't, "bad things will happen".

As audiences, we'd hope that someone would actually believe Jessa instead of shrugging it off to a bad dream especially since she claims it's not a dream and she's seen the man four times.

Fans seem to have the same sentiment, "Got caught up on #TheOutsider over the weekend and man, when will parents learn to believe their kids when they talk about the scary evil man that only they can see?" tweeted a user.

While Jessa describes the looks of the "man" to the adults, she's taken lightly as they tell her not to be scared. She, on the other hand, probably delivers the eeriest line in the episode. "I think you're the one that's supposed to be scared," she tells Anderson.

The quote itself took over twitter with the hashtag #TheOutsider. Seemingly, little Jessa might have answers to the case but her mother seems to brush it off too lightly.

Being her mother, she wants to help her daughter to heal from the death of her father, instead of focusing on the fact that the little child is serious about what she says. "If this mom would just stop interrupting, maybe we’d get somewhere! #TheOutsider #TheOutsiderHBO" tweeted another user.

"I really wish people would believe children," tweeted another user. Hopefully, in the next episode, Jessa might be given the chance to be believed.

'The Outsider' airs on Sundays at 9 pm EST on HBO.
