'The Outpost' Season 3 Episode 12: Is Tobin dead? Here's why his fate is sealed and how he could return

That Falista-Tobin was really just a giant leap none of us saw coming, right? Everything seems to have built up to this epic moment in Tobin's arc

As we inch closer and closer to the finale of today's insanely popular dystopian saga 'The Outpost', everything turns into a twisted tale of confusion, betrayal, and loss with war waging against the Blackbloods. In what looks like a repeat of The CW's 'Supernatural' finale, Season 3's Episode 12 of 'The Outpost' sees fan-favorite character Tobin get swarmed by knives and arrows, leaving us with the inevitable dread surrounding whether Tobin survives, or actually dies following this episode titled 'Where Death Lives'.

The official synopsis of the episode reveals: "Talon and Zed learn painful truths about their relatives; Tobin makes a heroic rescue; Yavalla's horde grows as the outpost prepares for battle." But what they had not mentioned so far was the heroic sacrifice Tobin also makes in his quest to free those he and the fans both are rooting for. The battle sees Tobin suffer a blow of not just a knife and an arrow, but several many of them, thus sealing his fate.

The first confirmation came from our revered Captain Garrett aka Jake Stormoen himself, as soon as Tobin's attack played on the screen during the show's air time tonight, he tweeted, "Oh dear. Some upset tweets from you all right now." This should have been clue enough for fans, but it just didn't seem fair to any of them as one pointed out: "Wow what a shocking and how Tobin got killed in front of his friends and wife. #TheOutpost. Hope the others return back to #TheOutpost very soon. #Blackbloods need to get home soon."

It has been a hard pill to swallow for the fandom and soon denial tuned into acceptance, and alternate theories about how Tobin could be brought back to life started coming up on Twitter. "Because I refuse to accept Tobin's death, this is where I hypothesize that Talon's dad is going to put the black kinj into his dead body and resurrect him from the dead." 

Some fans, however, found forgiveness in their hearts for Tobin choosing Falista over Gwynn despite being with the latter for the most parts. When that teasing kiss happened between Tobin and Falista fans quipped about having their priorities set amidst a war waging on, but now it all makes sense as gigantic overshadowing. "Makes perfect sense they made Tobin choose Falista if he was gonna die because why put more heartbreak unto Gwynn," wrote one. 

Others are not taking the news kindly, and that's not just the usual heartbreak as the alternative. In fact, they are very angry at the network, as one of them pointed out: "So you spend most of the season making Tobin suffer only to kill him."

To sum it up, yes Tobin is dead, and yes there are still chances that he might be brought back to life. But the odds don't quite look in his favor, everything seems to have been building up for this epic end in his arc.

'The Outpost' Season 3 finale, Episode 13, will air on Sunday, January 2, at 9 pm only on The CW.
