Netflix announces the new spin-off series of the popular franchise Fast and Furious. Netflix in collaboration with Dreamworks Animated Television is airing the television series. It will be executively produced by Vin Diesel, Niel Maritz and Chris Morgan.

The story revolves around Tony Toretto, the younger cousin of Dominic Toretto played by Vin Diesel for the franchise in ten movies. Tony and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league that involves a crime organization bent on world domination.

According to a report by IndieWire “We are thrilled to take our fantastic partnership with DreamWorks Animation to the next level with new opportunities from the vast library of Universal Pictures,” said Melissa Cobb, Vice President of Netflix Kids and Family. “The 'Fast & Furious’ franchise is a global phenomenon beloved by audiences of all ages, and we can’t wait to get started on the new animated series that will capture the action, heart, humor and global appeal of the feature films.”

The action-packed franchise has made over $5 billion over the course of ten movies and counting. The animated series is the second franchise spin-off to be announced this year following a live-action film that will center around characters played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

The next Fast and Furious movie hits the theatres in July 2019, while chapters 9 and 10 arrive in April 2020 and April 2021, respectively.
