JOHOR, MALAYSIA: In 'The Mole' Season 2, the exact cash prize has not been disclosed yet, but it is likely to be around the amount seen in previous seasons, such as $101,500.

The game starts with twelve contestants, one of whom is secretly the Mole tasked with sabotaging the team's efforts to earn money. Throughout the season, contestants participate in various tasks and challenges to add money to a collective prize pot. The more successful they are, the more money they accumulate.

However, the Mole works covertly to undermine these efforts and reduce the amount added to the pot, aiming to stay undetected. Periodically, the contestants take a multiple-choice quiz about the Mole's identity and actions. The player with the lowest score on each quiz is eliminated from the game. This process continues until only three players remain: two contestants and the Mole.

In the season finale, the remaining contestants take a final quiz about the Mole's identity. The contestant who knows the most about the Mole and scores highest on this quiz wins the entire prize pot, which could be around $100,000 based on previous seasons. The Mole, although integral to the game, is not eligible to win the cash prize.

'The Mole' is an adaptation of the Belgian TV series 'De Mol'

'The Mole' is based on the Belgian television series 'De Mol,' which debuted in 1998. The concept of the show involves a group of contestants working together to complete tasks and challenges to earn money for a collective prize pot. However, one of the contestants, known as the Mole, is secretly working against the group's efforts by sabotaging tasks and undermining their success.

The other contestants must try to identify the Mole while navigating the challenges set before them. Periodically, they take quizzes to test their knowledge of the Mole's identity and actions. The contestant with the lowest score on each quiz is eliminated from the game. This process continues until only a few contestants remain.

The twist of having a traitor within the group adds an element of suspense and intrigue to the show, as contestants must be vigilant in their observations and deductions to uncover the Mole's identity. The concept has proven to be highly successful, leading to numerous international adaptations of the series, including the American version that aired for five seasons starting in 2001.
