October is here and with this, the countdown begins for Halloween, and Netflix's 'The Midnight Club'. After Mike Flanagan's 'Midnight Mass' mini-series, the legacy continues with 'The Midnight Club'. The series, which is adapted from Christopher Pike's novel of the same name, revolves around a group of eight terminally ill patients at Brightcliffe Hospice, which has a mysterious history. The eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to tell sinister stories. One night they made a pact that the first of them to die would make every effort to contact the others from beyond the grave.

However, Flanagan also revealed that there will be a couple of more stories that will be a part of the new Netflix series. It seems like the audience is in for a ride. But the question that still remains unanswered, is if 'The Midnight Club' is similar to Flanagan's previous horror series 'The Haunting of Bly Manor'? Read more to find out.

'The Haunting of Bly Manor' is a gothic romance, created by Mike Flanagan, and released in October 2020 by Netflix. The second entry in Flanagan's 'The Haunting' anthology series, 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' mostly acts as an adaptation of the 1898 novella 'The Turn of the Screw' by Henry James, but also includes other elements either based on James' other works or created for the show. In the show, after an au pair’s tragic death, Henry hires a young American nanny (who is unaware of the haunted manor) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie, and housekeeper, Mrs Grose.

There might be a similarity as both the premises revolve around the children of the show and how the caretakers hired are the only ones to look after the kids but there are more differences that can be spotted as the kids in 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' lived in their own mansion and the kids in 'The Midnight Club' live in a hospice, for their unfortunate fates as they are either terminally ill or faced a fatal accident which made them landed in the hospice. Victoria Pedretti, who has been a Flanagan favorite, rose to prominence for her work in the Netflix anthology series 'The Haunting'. She played the supporting role of Eleanor "Nell" Crain in the anthology series' first season, 'The Haunting of Hill House' in 2018, and the leading role of Danielle "Dani" Clayton in its second season, 'The Haunting of Bly Manor'. However, even though the star is Flanagan's favorite, Pedretti won't be seen playing any roles in Flanagan's upcoming project, 'The Midnight Club'.

'The Midnight Club' on Netflix is all set for its premiere on Friday, October 7, 2022, to give you that needed spooky feel in time for Halloween.
