LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the next few days, global audiences and viewers would get treated to the first two episodes of multi-starrer historical adventure saga ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’. The series would have a global wide curtain raiser on September 1, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video. Whilst fans have gotten an introduction to evil lord Sauron and Pharazon in the trailer, many of them don’t have any idea of how did Sauron successfully trick Pharazon (Trystan Gravelle) into becoming a Morgoth follower.

Out of all the characters, it is indefinitely Sauron who has a pivotal link in this middle-earth second age. The series is about the Elves warring it out with dark lord Sauron to save their three 'Rings of Power' from him and also to safeguard their middle-earth era from his dark and evil clutches. Talking about the characters in the epic war saga, according to LOTR Fandom.com, "Pharazon’s greed for power was so much more that he ended up hearing about the evil lord Sauron. Sauron had been rapidly expanding his power throughout middle-earth and got known as the Lord of Men."

‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’: How Isildur's refusal to destroy the 'One ring' ensured Sauron's threat to middle-earth?

Pharazon’s over-confidence paved way for Sauron’s entry into Numenor

Pharazon who was full of pride and ego got determined to challenge him for the lordship of the earth. It was in SA 3261, that he went to Mordor with an army so powerful that Sauron's forces simply deserted him. But Sauron was shrewd and he put on pretense to be scared of Pharazon’s might. The king did not trust Sauron and brought him back to Numenor as a hostage. However, Sauron quickly took advantage of his situation to gain Pharazon’s trust. Maneuvering his way into the king’s good books through careful flattery, lies, and half-truths, he soon became the king's closest and most trusted advisor.

Sauron successfully corrupts Pharazon to become a Morgoth follower

Sauron was successful in his articulated plan of deceiving the King of Numenor and also ended up convincing him to worship Morgoth. Sauron hoped that his plan will be able to make Pharazon mortality. Some of the results of Sauron's devious mind were making a Great Temple to Morgoth. He also carried out the brutally intense persecution of the Faithful. In order to establish his dark realm, Sauron also chopped down the White Tree of Numenor. The domino effect of the same was that soon enough even King Pharazon and his followers were worshiping Morgoth openly. They started burning innocent people at the altar of the temple as sacrificial offerings to please the false god.
