Spoilers ahead for season 1 episode 3 of 'The L Word: Generation Q' titled 'Lost Love'

"America's gay sweetheart" Megan Rapinoe made a guest appearance as herself on Alice's (Leisha Hailey) feminist-focused talk show Alice. Appearing on Alice's show, the sports star, who was recently named 'Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year, spoke about her coming out story, illicit affairs, and other aspects of her life.

And while this particular segment of the episode did not sit well with us, fans of the show and of the sportswoman are cheering loud from the bleachers unable to contain themselves. "They really just had Megan Rapinoe on 'The L Word: Generation Q'," said one. "Megan Rapinoe on the  f****n 'The L Word' I'm gay guying help!" said another

Many questions that Alice asked Rapinoe answered the long-standing queries of her fans. "I’m so happy The L Word had Megan Rapinoe on tonight’s episode. Everything that Alice asked was everything I’ve been dying to know myself. " Fans also appreciated her telling her real-life coming out story. "Megan Rapinoe really IS sharing her real coming out story on the L Word. This is fantastic."

"Still can’t believe Megan Rapinoe was on the L Word. is there anything more lesbian? I’ll wait," said another fan.

There are some who didn't see the significance of the segment on the episode altogether. "Megan Rapinoe was cool. She's said some ignorant things IMO, but she seemed like a suitable guest to have on the show and I don't think she did badly at all as a non-actor. I think the "who's your celebrity crush" bit could have been left out, personally," noted a fan of the show.

Since 2018, Rapinoe has been co-captain of the national team alongside Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan. She won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France

'The L Word: Generation Q' airs on Sundays at 10/9c on Showtime.
