'The L Word: Generation Q': US Soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe makes an appearance on Alice's talk show

Rapinoe was recently named 'Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year and announced that she is endorsing Elizabeth Warren for president.

If you haven't watched the sequel to the groundbreaking series 'The L Word' yet, perhaps this could be your incentive to join in. 

Soccer star Megan Rapinoe will be making a guest appearance on 'The L Word: Generation Q' in the upcoming third episode 'Lost Love'. Rapinoe will be playing herself as a guest on Alice's (Leisha Hailey) feminist-focused talk show Alice. Rapinoe was recently named 'Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year and announced that she is endorsing Elizabeth Warren for president.

On 'Alice', Rapinoe plays herself and Alice asks "America's gay sweetheart" about her coming out story. Alice also gets flirty with Rapinoe, asking her questions about illicit affairs, and any locker room makeout sessions.

Apart from Rapinoe's appearance, this particular segment is cringe-worthy. Regardless of what either party's sexuality is, it speaks of poor journalistic ethics when Alice presses for questions that dig deeper into Rapinoe's private life.

This is an issue sportswomen have faced for years now - journalists asking them questions about their personal self, questions they wouldn't ask sportsmen. While we are not shown the entire interview in the episode, through the very limited footage, Alice only asks her about her relationships, her sex life, and prods Rapinoe about her illicit affairs. She doesn't ask her about her career, about her work and/or her professional life.

Perhaps the only substantial question she does ask Rapinoe is about her coming out story. As a young girl, Rapinoe came out to her mother and in the same revelation outed her sister as well.

 Rapinoe co-captains the national team alongside Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan since 2018. She won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
