In 1879 HG Wells penned ‘The Invisible Man’ which was about a scientist who devoted his life to changing the refractive index of his body and, well, becomes “invisible”. The book was later adapted into film series in the 1930s. And now, more than 70 years later, Universal Studios is releasing a spin-off of the series, which is loosely based on Well’s original work. However, what’s interesting about the 2020 version of ‘The Invisible Man’ is that the plot revolves around a female protagonist and not a male one, unlike its earlier renditions.

Release Date

The drama-thriller movie is all set for a worldwide release in theaters on February 28, 2020.

Plot

As released by Universal Studios, the synopsis reads: “Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid). But when Cecilia’s abusive ex commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turn lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.”

While that is quite self-explanatory, what would follow is what would make for the crux of the plot.
