'The Good Place' Season 4 spoilers: Four storylines we need to see tied up before the series finale

Ahead of the finale, the show will surely wrap this story up, with Eleanor and Chidi - hopefully - finding their way back to each other, like they have done at least a hundred times before.

One of the most popular shows of our time, 'The Good Place' returns one last time with season four on Thursday, September 26, and there is much that we are looking forward to.

Over the last couple of years, we have fallen in love with the four humans, their demon friend, and his non-girl sidekick, and it's only natural that we expect their stories to be wrapped up beautifully before we say goodbye.

Here are the top four storylines we want to see 'The Good Place' season four address when it returns on September 26:

Eleanor-Chidi-Simone love triangle

Proving that she has truly evolved since her death, Eleanor (Kristen Bell) selflessly pretends to be the architect of the new pretend Good Place, where the four newly-deceased humans will try to improve their overall points as part of the experiment co-conducted by Team Humans and the Demons.

The selfless bit is watching Chidi (William Jackson Harper), her boyfriend whom she loves, walk around with no recollection of their history together.

As far as he is concerned, his ex-girlfriend Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and Eleanor are both strangers to him, but unlike Simone, Eleanor's memory is not wiped clean, and she has to live with the knowledge that he may never love her the way he used to.

Ahead of the finale, the show will surely wrap this story up, with Eleanor and Chidi — hopefully — finding their way back to each other, like they have done at least a hundred times before.

Judge changing the point system

The whole reason Eleanor and Chidi decided to make this sacrifice is so they can prove to the Judge (Maya Rudolph) that the current point system that decides who gets into the Good Place is bogus and that it needs to be revised.

They are risking everything to save humanity from eternal damnation, and the upcoming season will finally see if Michael's (Ted Danson) hopes in humanity are well-placed or not.

If they are proven to be right, the Judge will hopefully change the point system and make Eleanor, Chidi, Jason (Manny Jacinto), and Tahani (Jameela Jamil) the first new residents of the Good Place in over five hundred years.

Michael and Janet's eternity

We know that Michael and Janet (D'Arcy Carden) are outlaws of sorts in the celestial world, and they have feared being marbleized and thrown into obscurity ever since they started helping the humans.

However, after they prove that the world is pitted against humans and that the point system is obsolete in this context, the Judge may pardon them as well, but how will the show ensure that they get to spend eternity with their friends?

Our proposal is that the Judge allows all dead people to live a human year in the pretend Good Place and see them incorporate the point system. Michael, Janet, Chidi, Eleanor, Jason, and Tahani should be appointed as the architects and caretakers of these places. After all, Jason and Janet deserve their happily ever after.

Redemption for Bad Place demons

With the way Michael has changed because of his friendship and affinity for humans in his life, we know that the Demons are capable of redemption. It would sure be lovely to see demons like Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson), Trevor (Adam Scott), and Vicky (Tiya Sircar) get a shot at doing and being better. We are not asking for a turnabout change, but at least give them some empathy for favoring the humans enough to not torture them for eternity.
