The Good Place Season 4 Episode 2: Are the new residents capable of change or is humanity doomed to an eternity of torture?

We are compelled to wonder if the blogger who seems to still find joy in talking trash about people, and the man who embodies everything toxic about privileged white men of the world are even capable of redemption.

'The Good Place' has prepared a grand finale for its fans and we are sure getting there will be an even greater experience based on the premiere episode of Season 4. Michael (Ted Danson) and gang have welcomed the four new subjects to the make-believe Good Place to see whether human beings are truly capable of changing.

Because Michael freaked out just before welcoming the first new resident, Eleanor (Kristen Bell) decides to step in as the pretend architect, while he stands by her and offers support. First, Chidi's (William Jackson Harper) ex-girlfriend Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) comes along, forcing him to get his memory erased to protect the sanctity of what they are doing.

They also went on to welcome a smut-talking blogger who used to be extremely catty towards Tahani (Jameela Jamil) back on earth, a privileged, rich, white douchebag who thinks he is the center of the universe and an extremely drab woman who fails to see the joy of heaven and asks for a peppermint when offered anything she desires. As it turns out, the woman, who later goes on to punch everyone, is actually a demon in a human suit, because, as expected, Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) played dirty.

The Judge (Maya Rudolph) decides that an apt replacement for her to make the playing field even would be to consider Chidi as one of the new subjects. Since his memory is already erased, this seems like a great plan, especially because he has already proved time and again that he is capable of change. However, many parameters have changed, starting with the fact that this will be the first time he won't have Eleanor on his side — at least to the best of his knowledge.

Meanwhile, we are compelled to wonder if the blogger who seems to still find joy in talking trash about people, and the man who embodies everything toxic about privileged white men of the world are even capable of redemption. Chidi and Simone do give us some confidence but don't forget to watch how Eleanor, Michael and the others nudge the four new residents to be better humans.
