After three successful seasons, the popular primetime drama and ABC's highest-rated nighttime show will be back with another season and we can't wait for more drama to unfold.

Release Date

The final air date of 'The Good Doctor' Season 4 is yet to be confirmed. Owing to the delay in production due to the coronavirus outbreak, the new season might not be available sooner than the end of 2020.

Watch this space for the latest update on the release date.

Plot

Based on an original Korean show, the story of ABC's 'The Good Doctor' follows the journey and struggles of Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), an autistic but savant young surgeon with impeccable and unique diagnostic skills and treatment ideas.

The first three seasons explored Shaun's growth through hardships at work, taking up new challenges and growing as a doctor and as an individual. The latest Season 3 was all about Shaun's love life, where he fell in love with a colleague but eventually broke up.

Then he realized his love for his friend, and after quite a few roadblocks, he won her over. And now, in the upcoming Season 4, we will see his new relationship blossom further and become something more worthwhile, something stronger, while he deals with the loss of some of his close colleagues and mentors.

The two-part finale of the third season exposed the doctors to a disastrous earthquake and took many lives. While some could be saved, others like Dr Neil Melendez were lost. The new season will also see the survivors dealing with the aftermath and the trauma of losing their friends.

Cast

The hit medical series boasts an ensemble cast, featuring some of television's popular faces like Freddie Highmore, Christina Chang, Nicholas Gonzalez, Jasika Nicole, Richard Schiff, Fiona Gubelmann, Hill Harper, Will Yun Lee, Paige Spara and Antonia Thomas among others.

The above cast have been regulars throughout last three seasons. But in the upcoming Season 4, we will not be seeing some of the lead actors, owing to a change of plot lines and character deaths.

Who is in:

Richard Schiff, Freddie Highmore, Christina Chang, Fiona Gubelmann and Paige Spara (IMDb)

Freddie Highmore, Paige Spara, Christina Chang, Richard Schiff, Antonia Thomas, Fiona Gubelmann, and Hill Harper are all expected to remain the lead characters of the story and head the team of St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Who is out:

Jasika Nicole, Nicholas Gonzale and Will Yun Lee (IMDb)

Nicholas Gonzalez, Jasika Nicole, and Will Yun Lee will not be seen in the upcoming season. Gonzalez's character, Dr Neil Melendez meets with a tragic death. Nicole's exit from the show was almost expected when her character's (Dr Carly Lever) relationship with Shaun Murphy ended halfway through Season 3.

Will Yun Lee also will not be a part of the upcoming season, as we see his character Dr Alex Park planning to move closer to his family in Arizona. However, this could also mean that he might come back at a later stage. That remains to be seen.

Showrunner

Canadian television writer, creator and director David Shore helmed the first three seasons of the hit medical drama series and will continue to do so for the upcoming fourth season.

Shore also serves as the executive producer of the show along with Daniel Dae Kim, Seth Gordon, Erin Gunn, David Kim, Sebastian Lee, Mike Listo and Thomas L Moran.

Trailer

The network has not updated any information on the preview of the upcoming season. But know that as and when we have the latest information on Season 4 trailer, we will bring it right to you. Until then, stay tuned!
