Call it high expectations or just being on the other side of the spectrum, we always expect doctors to be the best at their jobs and never fail. After all, we entrust them with our health, wellness, and most often, our life.

And when they fail, it not only costs us our health but also strips us of our faith in the medical fraternity, one instance at a time. 'The Good Doctor' Season 3 Episode 14 titled 'Influence' illustrates such an instance of ignorance on the surgeon’s part.

The one in question is none other than Morgan. We have established many times before that Morgan is arrogant, highly ambitious, quite selfish, and can overlook others' needs when it comes to prioritizing.

In the latest episode, Morgan takes the initiative of being the surgical lead for a critical case of throat surgery. The patient is a social influencer who lives and breathes on a huge fan following.

Everything that she says and does spreads like wildfire among her fans. This also seems to work in favor of the hospital, which yields good and free publicity through a patient's popularity.

Morgan, knowing how ambitious she is, laps up this opportunity to get the spotlight on her. She requests Dr Audrey Lim to be the lead and being a female surgeon operating on a female, looks like good optics to everyone.

However, this is where things get critical, at least to us. Morgan is aware of how her RA is a hindrance to her work and life. Although her condition has not worsened and her medication has been keeping it in control, it's a hit-and-miss situation every time.

In spite of knowing that her RA can pose a threat in a critical surgery like this, Morgan takes the risk of leading a surgery, only because she wants to be a star. Her ambition overrides her sense of responsibility towards her patient.

She not only ends up with a misdiagnosis but also ends up making a surgical error. Although there is no immediate effect on the patient, we all know, and even her colleagues second that there can be complications for the patient in the future.

And if Morgan comes clean to her patient or to the media, not only will she lose her medical career but that will also impact the hospital's reputation.

This incident makes us strongly believe that surgeons with serious health conditions like Morgan should avoid handling sensitive medical cases and intense surgeries. Otherwise, patients could face serious danger like Morgan's patient did.

'The Good Doctor' Season 3 airs every Monday at 10 pm /9c on ABC.
