‘The Good Doctor’ Season 3 Episode 10: Fans angry at how Shaun’s father behaved with him on death bed
The torrent of emotions portrayed in the winter finale episode does not seem to end. We somehow had an inkling of what to expect, but as we are faced with the reality of Shaun’s situations, it takes our reactions to the next level. As we learned from Episode 9, Shaun’s father had been diagnosed with cancer and was counting his last days. Shaun gathers all his mental strength and courage to go and visit his dad one last time.
We know how his relationship with his father has been. Being abused and cornered since his childhood, Shaun already had gone through a lot of pain and lived without parental affection for years. So, it was indeed brave of him to go and visit the very man who scarred him emotionally. But that is not what fans are talking about. They are highly disappointed about how his father behaved with Shaun, even when he was nearing his last moments.

Some fans like @only1risa have even gone to the length of calling his ‘evil’, “Shaun’s father is the evil, mean, abusive person he is, and forgiving him doesn’t transform him. Shaun forgiving him is for Shaun’s benefit. #TheGoodDoctor”
While others like @ImAustinShomakr are glad that Shaun’s abuser finally ceases to exist. He says, “he died GOOD RIDDANCE! #TheGoodDoctor”
Going a step further, fans like @imChrisMitchell find a connect with Shaun’s situation and feel the emotion as portrayed in the scene. He says, “Tonight's #TheGoodDoctor is great. For mr, it hits home to issues that existed, and still haunt me, between myself and my late dad.”
But people have not stopped at Shaun’s father but are also criticizing his mother for her behavior during his visit. As @cIaireffrasercomments, “i still don’t understand how could she abandoned her kids and choose to stay with a man like that? even if shaun dinner had autism, still, how could she? i think it’s selfish of them to ask shaun to forgive them now for what they made him go through his whole life #TheGoodDoctor”
This is one of those rare times when fans of ‘The Good Doctor’ have come forth with strong opinions and reactions about any character and it has created quite a stir.
