'Nancy Drew': Who killed Dead Lucy? Fan theory suggests Carson Drew knows the answer
Spoilers ahead for The CW's 'Nancy Drew'
The first act of The CW's 'Nancy Drew' got the main cast involved in the murder of Tiffany Hudson (Sinead Curry). Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) and her team at the Claw George (Leah Lewis), Bess (Maddison Jaizani), Ace (Alex Saxon) and Ned (Tunji Kasim) are all considered suspects in the murder.
Since crimes like this are often committed by the spouse, Nancy urges the Chief (Adam Beach) to look into Tiffany's husband Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith).
And when the cops continue looking at the group as suspects with seemingly valid motives, the group goes forward with investigations of their own, led by Nancy, of course.
At the same time, one of the burning mysteries in the show is who killed Dead Lucy. According to the legend, Horseshoe Bay's infamous sea queen Dead Lucy wore her crown for only one night before dying off the cliff. How and why she died is unknown.
Nancy, however, finds a bloody dress in a trunk in the attic of her own home. When she asks her father Carson (Scott Wolf) about the dress, he pacifies her by telling it was a prop he used to scare her mother.
And while Nancy seemed convinced, the end of the episode saw Carson burning the dress. If it really was a prop, why would he burn it?
Fans now think that there is a connection between the two murders. "I think Ryan had something to do with her [Dead Lucy's] death. She died about 20 years ago and the actor who plays Ryan is 41, which means his character was probably around that age, so 20 years ago he wouldn't have been that much different in age than Lucy," said a fan.
The fan continued, "And Nancy's father represented him, which is why he told his wife he would never get involved with the Hudsons again. And maybe Tiffany found out or was getting close to so Ryan killed her. IDK if it was Ryan himself yet since the whole point of the show is to make everyone look guilty."
That explains why when Ryan approached Carson to defend him in court, he refused to take the case. But gives in, later on, to bail Nancy out of jail after she is arrested breaking into the coroner's office to steal evidence before Tiffany's body is set out for a private autopsy.
This joining-the-dots activity has been super easy. And exactly the reason why some fans think the mystery around Ryan's character is a red herring.
"I feel like Ryan is too obvious! Like so many of the clues are pointing to him, kind of makes me think he's a red herring. But at the end of the day, The CW does go for the obvious at times," said another fan.
'Nancy Drew' airs on Wednesdays at 9|8c on The CW.
