Spoilers ahead for episode 2 of 'Nancy Drew' titled 'The Secret of the Old Morgue'

Last week, the premiere episode of The CW's 'Nancy Drew' ended with the teen sleuth finding something rather astonishing in her own attic. After Horseshoe Bay's infamous sea queen Dead Lucy told her via the medium Harriet (Pamela Sue Martin) to look for the dress that she was found dead in, Nancy was drawn to her attic in the middle of the night. That is when she found the bloody dress in a trunk in her attic.

"What is the dress of a girl who was murdered 20 years ago doing in my attic?" she thinks to herself.

She begins to suspect her father Carson (Scott Wolf) to having something to do with this. While she doesn't ask him outright about Dead Lucy's dress in their attic, she is suspicious about Carson's involvement in this. Especially since she discovered he is dating Karen (Alvina August) shortly after the death of his wife. Upset with his decision to move on rather quickly when she is stuck coming to terms with her death.

This leads her to the police station where she is set to investigate Lucy Sable's murder but is cut short by the police. Through the episode, Nancy is haunted by visions of Dead Lucy. Whether it is in the old morgue where she is looking for evidence for Tiffany Hudson's (Sinead Curry) murder or breaking into a car to steal the door pass of the coroner, Nancy can see Dead Lucy everywhere.

After being arrested for breaking in to steal evidence for Tiffany's murder from the morgue, Nancy meets her father when being held in jail. She questions him about the bloody dress she earlier found in the attic. Carson doesn't bat an eye as he tells her that the dress was a prop from once upon a time and was used as a running gag by Nancy's parents. But then, several years ago, Nancy had seen her mother and father dig up a trunk in the backyard as a young girl. But at that time, her mother tells her that it is all a dream. So he tells her that the trunk belonged to her grandmother and contained miscellaneous stuff she once owned.

Seemingly satisfied with this answer, Nancy lets her guard down. At the end of the episode, she makes a promise to Dead Lucy - "I'm going to figure out who killed you too."

But if it was only just a prop, why would Carson Drew burn the dress? How is he related to Lucy Sable's murder? And by extension, her mother?

'Nancy Drew' airs on Wednesdays at 9|8 c.
