'The Conners' Season 3 Episode 4: Will Jackie and Neville work out? Fans think he's 'Fred all over again'

Neville, who claims he used to watch Jackie twirl with her riffle at the park, immediately asks her out. He's the nice guy. Need we say more?

It was Beverly Rose's first birthday on 'The Conners' Season 3 but fans were more taken with the introduction of someone new into the family's life. It's interesting, especially because of the family's dynamics with Jackie. There's a new man called Neville, who chanced upon the titular family – his means of knowing them being the fact that he is the family patriarch, Dan Conners', new girlfriend Lousie's brother. And while Neville was instantly smitten with Jackie, fans are wondering if he's the right choice for her.

Neville remembers Jackie from her early days in Lanford when she would practice her rifle shooting. Adorable, right? Fans however aren't quite sure what to make of this, as they think Neville gives off major Fred aka Jackie's ex-husband vibes. Neville, who claims he used to watch Jackie twirl with her riffle at the park, immediately asks her out. Not directly, but he proposes he companies her to practice if she's up for it, and later even suggests he comes to see her in the diner with some vitamins for the chickens, or even a broom so she can teach him to twirl the way she did. Jackie dodges it with an aloof stance both times, and it isn't until Neville voices out in as many words that he likes her, that Jackie gets what's what. And this has led fans to draw in comparisons with Jackie's marriage to Fred, that was a total disaster from the get-go.

Jackie had met Fred through her brother in law Dan, as the two men worked together. Their meeting led to a once night stand and accidental pregnancy which ended with marriage. But for the longest time, Jackie couldn't register or accept that Fred was really the man in her life. He was always the nice guy, the same way s Neville is initiating their dynamics, and it was only years later that Jackie warmed up to her husband, after seeing what a genuinely good father and caring family man he was. Perhaps this is what prompted fans to draw up the comparison. The fact that Jackie and Fred eventually break up due to incompatibility only makes things more ominous for her and Neville. 

Taking it to Twitter, fans voiced their opinions saying "Neville is cute...I kind of hope it works out with him and Jackie." The moment he was introduced, another shared: "Neville.... Sounds like someone Jackie would date. Lol." Others however were more fixated on how "Neville feels like Fred all over again. Being single by choice is a valid option for Jackie." Now that we know what's what makes sense why fans would say "This is probably going to disappoint us about Darlene. But Jackie and Neville are giving off the old Jackie and Fred vibes."
