Deborah Joy Winans stars as Monica Henderson
Deborah Joy Winans stars as Monica Henderson, whose story has inspired the film. Talking about playing a character such as this, Winans says, "This woman exhibits so much strength and so much courage. She stood her ground and went with her heart. At the end of the day it shows that when you persevere with the motive of love, you will always win."
That certainly sounds like Charity Greenleaf speaking to us. After all Deborah has had enough practice preaching on screen, in the mega church drama 'Greenleaf'. Deborah as fans no doubt remember also has an extremely powerful singing voice and it is a talent that runs in her family. Deborah in fact played her aunt CeCe Winans in the Lifetime biographical film 'Whitney'. Of late she has also expanded her repertoire and starred in 'Don't Waste Your Pretty', where she worked with 'The Color Of Love' writer Tamara Bass.
