'The Color Of Love' Full Cast List : Meet Deborah Joy Winans, Michael Brown and other actors in Lifetime drama
'The Color Of Love' reunites Deborah Joy Winans and writer Tamara Bass who worked on 'Don't Waste Your Pretty'
'The Color Of Love' is a Lifetime adoption drama that focusses on the inspiring real-life story of African American widow Monica Henderson, who battles society and the system to adopt two white siblings who she fostered before. She takes on several challenges simply to ensure that these children do not fall through the cracks of the foster system. It is quite a departure for Deborah Joy Winans, who is best known for playing Charity Greenleaf on the hugely successful OWN show 'Greenleaf'. Let's now introduce you to the cast of 'Color of Love'.
Deborah Joy Winans stars as Monica Henderson
Deborah Joy Winans stars as Monica Henderson, whose story has inspired the film. Talking about playing a character such as this, Winans says, "This woman exhibits so much strength and so much courage. She stood her ground and went with her heart. At the end of the day it shows that when you persevere with the motive of love, you will always win."
That certainly sounds like Charity Greenleaf speaking to us. After all Deborah has had enough practice preaching on screen, in the mega church drama 'Greenleaf'. Deborah as fans no doubt remember also has an extremely powerful singing voice and it is a talent that runs in her family. Deborah in fact played her aunt CeCe Winans in the Lifetime biographical film 'Whitney'. Of late she has also expanded her repertoire and starred in 'Don't Waste Your Pretty', where she worked with 'The Color Of Love' writer Tamara Bass.
Michael Brown as Theo
Michael Brown stars as Theo, Monica Henderson's partner who tries to dissuade her from adopting the two white siblings, Peter and Rachel. Brown is a Canadian actor who was discovered when he was in high school and then debuted on the series 'Straight up!'
Brown has worked alongside several well known actors such as Mark Wahlberg in 'Four Brothers', Taye Diggs in 'Kevin Hill' and Vivica A Fox in '1-800-Missing'. Brown has also worked on several shows such as 'Being Erica' and 'The Ron James Show'. Brown also believes in giving back to the youth and mentors high school students, on issues of self worth. He also uses his sports background, to advise youth on teamwork and how sports can help one get ahead.
'The Color of Love' is directed by Don McBrearty with a script written by Tamara Bass. Bass also serves as executive producer along with Suzanne Chapman, Tom Berry, Barbara Fisher.
