'The Boys' Season 4 was missing one key character, and we're glad he's back

Key character's return in 'The Boys' Season 4, Episode 5 shows they still matter, suggesting they'll play a big role

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Boys' Season 4 brought back a major character, reminding us how important they are to the show. Prime Video's superhero series introduces many characters, but they often exit in dramatic ways, making comebacks rare.

One key character, still alive but absent in Season 4, used to have a lot of power. Their return in 'The Boys' Season 4, Episode 5 shows they still matter, suggesting they'll play a big role as the series nears its end in Season 5.

Stan Edgar makes a surprising return in 'The Boys'

In 'The Boys' Seaon 4, Episode 5 'Beware The Jabberwock, My Son,' Stan Edgar's comeback reveals how much his absence impacted the show. First seen in Season 1 as the CEO of Vought International, Edgar stands out as a formidable figure amid superpowered beings like Homelander.

His character delves into themes of corporate influence in society, contrasting sharply with Homelander's raw power.

Edgar's role as a powerful adversary resonates deeply with the show's themes. His arrest in Season 3 left a significant void that continues to affect 'The Boys'. His return in Season 4 underscores his significance and portrays him as a wildcard.

While he temporarily allies with the Boys and has personal ties to Victoria, it's clear to both the Boys and ourselves that he's likely pursuing his own agenda, solidifying his status as a compelling antagonist.

Giancarlo Esposito's impactful role as Edgar in 'The Boys' highlights his versatility and presence in Hollywood

One of the things that makes Edgar so impressive is Giancarlo Esposito's acting. Esposito gives Edgar a mix of charm and distance, while also showing moments where he seems genuinely human.

He's done a great job, especially since he became well-known for his role in 'Breaking Bad'. Even though he's appeared in smaller roles, Esposito's performance as the calm drug kingpin Gus in the AMC series was really memorable.

Since then, Esposito has become a flexible and reliable actor in Hollywood. He's been in several other shows and movies, including playing important roles in Disney's 'Star Wars' shows on Disney+.

The way 'The Boys' uses him sparingly makes his appearances more powerful. While it was upsetting to watch his character go to prison in Season 3 and seem to be written out, we're looking forward to seeing him again in Season 4.

Will Stan Edgar appear in 'The Boys' Season 5?

As 'The Boys' heads towards its final Season 5, Stan Edgar's role is becoming crucial. Recent events in 'Beware the Jabberwock, My Son' suggest Edgar could become unpredictable.

Neuman's surprising move, exploding the head of Edgar's prison transport driver, hints at a potential alliance or manipulation involving Edgar. With his deep ties to Vought, he holds valuable knowledge and influence that could affect Homelander's plans.

As the series wraps up, it would be disappointing if this were Edgar's last appearance. He embodies a central theme of 'The Boys', exploring corporate corruption and its dangerous impact in the pursuit of profit.

Bringing Edgar back in Season 5 would bring these themes back into focus, contrasting his calculated approach with Homelander's aggressive tactics.

Stan Edgar is a complex character in 'The Boys', and his return in Season 4 has only left us wanting for more.
