'The Bold Type' Season 4 Episode 12: Jane navigates being a boss after recovering from double mastectomy
'The Bold Type' returned to Freeform for the second half of its fourth season just last week. After a strong comeback that showed our three heroines battling with their world, it delves deeper into that struggle this week. The launch of Jane's vertical is merely hours away and while she might have gotten (almost) everything ready, she has not quite adjusted to being a boss yet.
In the previous episode, Jane Sloan (Katie Stevens) was flustered about returning to work after being away for a few months recovering from her double mastectomy. She is also anxious and was shown to be hypersensitive about things and people around her — particularly aware of the fact that everyone around her knows about her recent surgery. But having regained her confidence after getting into the elite women-only club Belle, she is resolved to do better. Yet there seem to be some glitches as the promo to the upcoming episode shows.
While Sutton Brady (Meghann Fahy) is shown offering Jane advice on the work front, she has to now prepare herself for one of the biggest benchmarks of her life — pregnancy and motherhood. With her new promotion as a stylist, she now will have to juggle her career and pregnancy. The promo suggests this whole situation is making Sutton nervous about her future. "I don't know any stylists that are pregnant," she is seen saying in the promo.
The promo video also shows Kat Edison (Aisha Dee) coming face to face with a certain someone — one who is definitely the last person she wanted to see when she's working at the Belle as a bartender. RJ Safford's (Aidan Devine) daughter Ava Rose (Alex Paxton-Beesley) is seen talking to Kat at the bar at Belle. And going by the looks of it, it doesn't look like a pleasant conversation. Their last meeting, when Kat was still working at Scarlet, did not go well after Kat and Adena Al Amin (Nikohl Boosheri) warned RJ of consequences. The remnants of this animosity might remain even now.
