'The Blacklist' Season 7 Episode 5: Red and Liz are investigating a dangerous criminal, but what about the one living right next door?
Red (James Spader) really close to being exposed as Ilya Rastova in the previously aired Season 7 Episode 4 of NBC's 'The Blacklist', but thankfully he was able to convince Harold (Harry Lennix) that they should continue to work together. As we saw, Harold found out that a man he served with in Kuwait and thought to have died is, in fact, alive, and is now a war criminal turned terrorist. Meeting him face to face made him reconcile with the idea that he is probably not as morally uncorrupted as he had hoped.
During this personal angst, Harold had also come to the conclusion that the only way for him to keep his moral compass pointing north is to come clean about Red's own identity. This would have meant scrapping the task force as well, which was a sacrifice he was willing to make. However, he changed his mind and Red is as big a part of the task force as he used to be, helping them catch yet another major criminal in the upcoming Season 7 Episode 5, 'Norman Devane'.
The episode will see Liz (Megan Boone) and Red working together to catch a man who is infamous for weaponizing diseases. The world thinks of most of his work as natural disasters, but Red knows them to be the horridly masterful work of an assassin, and they are obviously going to defeat him by the end of the episode.
However, the criminal we are more worried about is the one living next to Liz in her apartment complex, Katarina Rastova (Laila Robins). Liz, being the loudmouth that she is, revealed to her that she not only has FBI keeping guard for her but also that her mother is the reason she needs it. Katarina is getting every information she needs from her, and we are worried. Now, she has Katarina babysitting for Agnus and it is certainly strange to know that even Red hasn't figured out that Katarina is living right under their noses.
Hopefully, Season 7 Episode 5, titled 'Norman Devane', which airs on Friday, November 1, will see Red or Liz making the connection between Katarina and the strange old woman next door who seems a little too invested in her life.
