'The Blacklist' Season 7 Episode 2: Katarina's torture methods leave us wondering if Red's secrets are worth dying for
Over the last few seasons, we have learned, unlearned and relearned many things about Liz's (Megan Boone ) parentage, and it looks like there is yet another thing we were falsely made to believe — her mother Katarina (Laila Robins) is relatively good.
Turns out she is among the coldest and most ruthless people out there, considering everything she has been up to since the season six finale of 'The Blacklist'.
This season, which premiered with last week's 'Louis T. Steinhil', showed just how conniving she can be, what with the fake hospital and fake French police and the fake French ambassador, to begin with.
Red (James Spader) has been abducted by her and is being tortured, and as we saw in the premiere episode, to the point of him being temporarily paralyzed.
However, even in his darkest moments, he was able to outwit the people around him, and figure out the truth and trace it back to Katarina — but he just doesn't know why she is doing it yet.
He was not able to get too far though, because her people captured him almost as soon as he escaped, and brought him to a dingy location where Katarina continues to torture him.
While the Task Force at the FBI finally figured who has Red towards the end of season seven episode one, they are yet to locate his whereabouts, and his time is truly running out.
In the trailer for the upcoming season seven episode two, we see that Katarina has drained 20 percent of his blood and is heard telling him, "They say a man can lose up to 40 percent of his blood."
She clearly has no intention to stop until she gets what she wants — information. Or, Red's death. It seems like she would be happy with either, because we hear her saying in the trailer, "If you think those secrets of yours are worth dying for, prove it."
We know Red enough to know that he is not going to part with his secrets, at least not fully, so we are scared for his life. Moreover, the synopsis for 'Louis T. Steinhil: The Conclusion' also claims that Red is among one of Katarina's targets, meaning keeping him alive may not be all that important to her in the first place.
We sure hope to see Liz and the rest of the Task Force get to Red before its too late when season seven episode two of 'The Blacklist' airs on NBC on Friday. October 11.
