'The Bachelorette': Hometown dates and what to expect when show returns next week with 2 episodes
Tuesday night's (December 8) episode of 'The Bachelorette' was one full of revelations. The boys were going at it, revealing their deep dark secrets, laying it all out on the table in a bid to show Tayshia Adams that they wanted her to know the good, bad and ugly episodes of their lives.
It began with Ben Smith, a frontrunner for the final rose this season, who opened up about his failed suicide attempts from the past. Then came Zac Clark who admitted to cheating in the past during a polygraph test. Tayshia was really upset on learning this but all her worries disappeared when Zac presented the complete story to her. Then came Riley, the attorney who's slowly but steadily establishing himself as a fan-favorite as well as winning Tayshia's heart. Things spiraled for a while on the recent episode when the polygraph test suggested he was lying about his identity. To add to the same, he wasn't really comfortable with Tayshia meeting his family next week on the hometown dates. He still chose to answer in the positive but the polygraph test suggested he was lying and there was immediate tension between him and Tayshia from that moment onwards. Riley broke down in tears and he was worried about what would happen on the hometown dates.
He was up for a chat with Tayshia and even though he was still emotional, he decided that it'd be best if Tayshia knew the truth about him. He began with an explanation about why the polygraph test suggested he lied about his name. He told her he was born 'Dwayne Henderson Jr'. He was named after his father, who had sole custody of him for the majority of his childhood. They were close for over 20 years and were each other's best friends. They did everything together. However, growing up he learned things about his father and he "didn't like what kind of person he was". He didn't want to share his name anymore and then changed his name to Devon Riley Christian.
After some big revelations, there was a surprise re-entry on the show. Bennett Jordan made a comeback and this shocked Tayshia who hit her elbow on the door in that very moment. Fans too went ballistic on his return. He apologized for all the drama that went on in the first hour of the show after which he was sent home. He then confessed that he was in love with Tayshia, leaving her speechless. The episode ended with Tayshia asking for a night to make a decision on whether she'd like to accept him back on the show or not.
A preview for what's coming next played after the episode ended. From the looks of it, Bennett has indeed made his way back to the Bachelorette mansion. He makes a dashing entry, suited-booted, and addresses the remaining suitors, announcing that he's here to stay. Bachelor Nation fans can expect to see the men complain and whine about his re-entry, but that's not all.
As the trailer suggested, there's not one but two episodes of 'The Bachelorette' next week. One episode we believe is going to be about the hometown dates, this is also the same episode where Tayshia's father will plant a seed of doubt in her head about the man she's decided to choose for herself. The next day, a 'Men Tell All' episode will air with all the eliminated contestants/suitors regrouping and things will get dirty. Yes, Yosef Aborady, the man who called Clare the "oldest Bachelorette" among other nasties will also be returning and no, he's not sorry about anything he said to the latter. Catch all of this and much more on next week's episodes.
'The Bachelorette' airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
