This past week, Chris Harrison, the host of 'The Bachelor' since its 2002 debut, announced on Saturday that he would be 'stepping aside' from the show for an undefined period of time and won't appear in Matt James' 'After the Final Rose' special in March, following backlash for defending current frontrunner Rachael Kirkconnell. Rachael came under fire for her reportedly "offensive and racist" actions. Internet detectives found photographs of Kirkconnell at parties deemed racist — including an “Old South” celebration — and wearing culturally appropriative “costumes".

Harrison had attempted to quell the discourse about Kirkconnell's past in an interview with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, but unfortunately, it backfired at the host as he was accused of "perpetuating racism". The internet was once again up in arms against Kirkconnell after singer Aloe Blacc, an outspoken social justice activist, performed a private show for her and James.

"Rachel doesn’t deserve a performance from Aloe Blacc #thebachelor," said a tweet, while another said, "Rachael deserves the no name country band not Aloe Blacc!!! #TheBachelor." Another said, "Matt has now given the racist a pair of Louboutins, several roses, and now a performance by Aloe Blacc?? #TheBachelor." People were appalled that the controversial contestant was kissing television's first black Bachelor lead with Blacc serenading them. "Not this racist YT woman kissing the first black bachelor on TV being serenaded by the Aloe Blacc.... Chile #TheBachelor," said the tweet. Many were unimpressed with Rachael getting an Aloe Blacc concert: "Watching Rachael get a private Aloe Blacc concert. #TheBachelor."

'Why not Morgan Wallen?'

A netizen wondered why Blacc was called in to perform instead of Morgan Wallen, a country star who recently received backlash on social media for using racist slurs in his videos. "Y’all really got Aloe Blacc performing for Rachael ?! Where is Morgan Wallen #TheBachelor #bachelor #TheBachelorABC," one tweet said.

"Rachel getting serenaded by Aloe Blacc does not sit right with me when a mere 3 years ago she was at an antebellum party #TheBachelor," expressed a Twitter user. Another user said. "So they get irrelevant country artists for every date in the bachelor franchise but for the problematic contestant with a racist history they get Aloe Blacc." One more said, "Rachael definitely did NOT know who Aloe Blacc was.... ...nope, not gonna do that joke. #TheBachelor."
