ESTONIA, EUROPE: On 'The Bachelor' Week 5, Charity Lawson shed a tear when she was eventually given a 1-on-1 date card. She was initially excited, but that quickly faded. Zach Shallcross was ill that week and was unable to attend the group date or his 1-on-1 date with Charity. Despite having another opportunity to share some quality alone time with Zach in Estonia, the child and family therapist undoubtedly missed a romantic date in London.

Charity, like the other women, hoped for an intimate one-on-one with Zach during 'The Bachelor' Week 5. Gabi Elnicki received the first-date invitation. Zach gave her the royal treatment, including a shopping spree in London. When all the ladies except Charity were handed a group date card, she knew she'd gotten some alone time with Zach. Unfortunately, things went wrong when the Bachelor became ill. He skipped both the group date bus excursion in London and the after-party with the women.

Charity goes on a carriage ride with Zach in 'The Bachelor'

Fortunately for Charity, Zach did not forget about her. The Bachelor held the first-ever virtual cocktail party, and she communicated with him via iPad. Zach gifted Charity a Big Ben figurine as a memento of the time they were apart. Charity is also not losing out on a one-on-one during 'The Bachelor' 2023. In the show's trailer, she enjoys a romantic carriage journey with Zach in Estonia, which is the location for this week's shooting.

"Zach was pretty clear that the next date, whenever he was better and could see the women, would be with Charity," 'The Bachelor' executive producer Bennett Graebner told EW. "For some reason, the women didn’t put that together, and they were kind of surprised when Charity got the next date. I was like, ‘How can you be surprised? Of course, she’s going to get the next date!’ But they were, and so was Charity."

The two will spend the entire day together in Tallinn, Estonia, competing in a local friendly tournament. During a run against a few residents, Zach will be seen carrying Charity.

Charity's helicopter ride in London canceled due to Zach's covid

During Week 5 of 'The Bachelor,' Jesse Palmer informed the ladies that Zach had tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). "I’m really sad. Obviously, it’s not easy to hear that he has covid," Charity spoke through her tears. "I think all of us, we care deeply, and we’re concerned. But you hope, and you dream of something, and I really was preparing my heart for this day, and I knew that it was going to be something special."

During 'The Bachelor' Week 5, Zach had something special in mind for Charity. "We were all very sad, especially because it was going to be an amazing date with a helicopter ride over the city," Bennett Graebner told Entertainment Weekly.

Season 27 of 'The Bachelor' airs Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
