Episode 9 of 'The Atypical Family' throws the Bok family into chaos as Do Da-hae's mother Baek Il-Hong (Kim Keum-Soon) manipulative streak reaches new heights, tearing the family apart with a web of lies. Her schemes cause Mr. Bok's (Oh Man-Seok) to be thrown out of the house, leaving him potentially remorseful and desperate to mend fences.

Bok Gwi-ju tells I-na about her mother’s death in 'The Atypical Family'
The ninth episode of 'The Atypical Family' offers an emotional deep dive into the backstory of Gwi-ju’s wife and the tragic circumstances surrounding her death. A heartfelt interaction takes place between Gwi-ju and his daughter, I-na, in a park.
In a poignant moment, Gwi-ju accidentally spills coffee on I-na's glasses, and while attempting to clean them, I-na's frustration boils over. Gwi-ju, following Da-hae's advice, tries to communicate his deep remorse through his eyes.
I-na perceives his genuine sorrow and desire to be present for her now, prompting her to reflect on a painful memory. She recalls that just before the fatal car accident, her mother was trying to escape from Gwi-ju.
A young I-na had unwittingly voiced her mother’s negative thoughts about her birth being a mistake, distracting her mother and causing the crash.
This revelation lifts a heavy burden of guilt from I-na, who had been blaming herself for her mother’s death. Gwi-ju reassures her that she was never a mistake, but rather the best thing that ever happened to him.
Parallel to these events, Da-hae, alongside Mrs. Bok, hatches a plan. In a dream, Mrs. Bok sees her daughter alive and embraces her, expressing relief.
