'Ted Lasso' Season 2 Cast: Meet Jason Sudeikis and others from the Apple TV + comedy

Ted Lasso’ is back with Season2 and fans cannot wait to see how the football coach will boost the morale of the team and take them to greater heights. The show chronicles the journey of a man named Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, an American soccer coach from Kansas who gets hired to manage AFC Richmond after he led the Wichita State Shockers to a Division II National Collegiate Athletic Association championship.

The coach gratefully accepts the job and is now given the responsibility of leading the side to the top of the Premier League table. Meanwhile, there is a lot that he needs to achieve before the team can make its way to the top. There are a lot of hidden agendas ruining the team and the coach is not aware of them.

Season 1 turned out to be a great success and ended with the team getting relegated to a lower division. They will be struggling to adjust to their lower division status. Meanwhile, Ted will have his attention toward leaving behind the team’s losing streak. The show won various accolades for its run in 2020. Apart from having a great premise, the Apple TV+ show is filled with talented actors. Sudeikis and Hanna Waddingham blew everybody’s minds with their impeccable acting while the supporting cast was brilliant as well.

So, let’s take a look at the cast of Season 2 and see who is returning.

Cast

Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso

Born on September 18, 1975, Jason Sudeikis began his professional career with improv comedy and performed at various events. In 1997, he made his acting debut with the TV movie ‘Alien Avengers II’. After that, he waited for almost seven years to get a second chance in the TV industry. In 2003, he was hired as a writer for ‘Saturday Night Live’ and starred as one of the main cast members from 2005 to 2013. He played characters like George W Bush, Joe Biden, Mitt Romney, and others. In 2007, Sudeikis had a recurring role on the series ‘30 Rock’ and appeared in a total of 12 episodes as a love interest of Tina Fey’s character.

Later that year, he made his feature film debut with ‘The Ten’ and went on to feature in two more projects as well. However, he gained wider prominence with his portrayal of Kurt Buckman in the movie ‘Horrible Bosses’. The actor garnered a lot of praise for his acting and impeccable comedy timing. Since then, he has appeared in various projects that have taken his popularity to a whole new level. Projects like ‘Epic’, ‘We’re The Millers’, ‘Mother’s Day’, ‘Colossal’, ‘Downsizing’ and ‘Booksmart’.

On the other hand, his role in ‘Ted Lasso’ made him earn the recognition he deserved. The show made him earn the Best Actor in a Comedy Series accolade at Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and SAG Awards.

Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Walton

Waddingham is categorically known for her work in theatre in the UK.  A graduate of the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, Waddingham has had a successful career in the London theatre, including her performances in ‘Space Family Robinson’ and ‘Lautrec’. She got a chance to make her TV debut with ‘Coupling’ in 2002 and went on to make cameo appearances in shows like ‘William & Mary’, ‘Footballers’ Wives’ and ‘Hollyoaks: Let Loose’.



 

Meanwhile, her feature film came in 2008 with ‘How to Lose People & Alienate People’. Even after moderate success on TV, she returned to her roots and started doing theatre productions. Waddingham portrayed the Lady of the Lake in ‘Spamalot’ and received an Olivier Award nomination for the role. She continued to dominate the theatre scene in London and earned two more nominations at the Olivier Awards for her work in ‘A Little Night Music’ (2010) and ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ (2013).

Since 2020, she has been a part of ‘Ted Lasso’ and has gained a lot of prominence in the US. She won the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards and earned a nomination at the SAG Awards.

Juno Temple as Keeley Jones

Born on July 21, 1989, Juno Temple started her career as a child actress and made an appearance in the 1997 movie ‘Vigo: Passion for Life’. Early in her career, she won critical praise for several supporting roles in projects such as ‘Notes on a Scandal' and ‘Atonement’. In 2009, she appeared alongside Jack Black and Michael Cera in the movie ‘Year One’.



 

In 2010, she starred in Abe Sylvia's ‘Dirty Girl’, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She also had a major role in the film ‘Kaboom’ (2010), which won the first Queer Palm award. In February 2013, Temple won the EE Rising Star BAFTA Award, voted for by the public.

Since then, she has acted in a lot of high-end ventures like ‘Black Mass’ (with Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch), ‘Maleficent’ (with Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning) and ‘Wonder Wheel’ (with Kate Winslet and Justin Timberlake).

Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard

Hunt began as a writer in the Comedy Central (Netherlands) satirical news program ‘Comedy Central News’ (CCN). He worked alongside Sudeikis and Seth Meyers on the aforementioned title and garnered a lot of praise. After returning to the United States, Hunt developed a one-man show based on his time in the Netherlands called ‘Five Years in Amsterdam’. The show turned out to be a success and received great reviews from the critics.

The actor has been a part of various movies and TV shows such as ‘We’re The Millers’, ‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘Community’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘Horrible Bosses 2’ and ‘Son of Zorn’. 



 

Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent

The comedian-turned-actor from the UK is known for writing and acting in the movie ‘Superbob’. The movie earned positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences. He won the 2016 BIFA for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Brendon in the film ‘Adult Life Skills’.

Bill Lawrence hired him as a writer on ‘Ted Lasso’ and later he went on to star on the show as well. For his writing on the show, he won the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Comedy Series accolade.



 

Nick Mohammad as Nathan Shelley

Nick had to take some drastic decision to pursue a career in comedy and acting. He left Cambridge without finishing his PhD after he was contacted by BBC and the rest is history. In 2009, he was cast in a recurring role on the show ‘Reggie Perrin’. Following his hit BBC Radio 4 debut, Mohammed's second series ‘Nick Mohammed in Bits’ attracted further critical acclaim. In 2014, he appeared as Mr. Love in the children’s TV series ‘Hank Zipzer’.

The kids absolutely loved his character and he went on to become one of the most beloved stars in the UK. In 2018, he got a chance to voice the character of Piglet in the Disney film ‘Christopher Robin’.

Sarah Niles as Sharon

The newest cast member of Season 2, Sarah Niles is a British actress mainly known for her roles in theatre productions. She gained wider prominence for portraying Reba Parkinson in the TV series ‘Beautiful People’ opposite award-winning actress Olivia Coleman.
